This is just my thought, but I would like to hear your opinions.
If we agree that we have life becuase we have a spirit...
James 2:26-For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
I wanna say it was my dad(certified minister, but doesnt preach in a church at this moment) and one of his friends talking about this, in which my dad said something like a baby is a alive when the spirit comes into it.Again I think it was my dad I heard say it,but I could of heard it else where to.
But since we cant, science cant tell with natural means when the spirit enters a baby in the womb, then should we consider that as soon the baby is able to kick and move around in the mother's stomach that then it is alive&it would be morally wrong to abort it?
Me personally,I think it's wrong period, but if were going by when the baby is considered alive, would the movement of the baby inside the womb be a good indicator that it now has a spirit, life inside it?

Scope for abortion should be avoided as far as possible. But to save the mother one can go for abortion even in advanced stage. Religion can not stand on the way.

I am not a theist but I would like to say something in defense of abortion. You are coming down on women that are not lying to themselves but what about these women that choose to keep their child/ren and kill them after they are born and walk away in most cases with a slap on the wrist, has anyone every asked where is the father's (sometimes they are even involved in the murders.), has anyone every asked why did this awful person just get an abortion at least it would have been far kinder then what they did do? What about all the women that died when abortion was illegal and swept under the dirty litlle secret carpet? It seems now days everyday you there are reports sometimes 2 or more about someone harming or killing their own children does this not scare you, that a women carried a being for 9 months and this being was given a name, breathed air, could be touched, could talk, could return love and a whole lot of other things and someone that was suppose to love and care for them harmed them, killed them and coldly went about their day? There is always going to be abortion as you know some babies die within the womb naturally are you going to say those mothers killed off those children is there even sometimes enough left to even bury them? What I would like driven home to people is these women have their reasons and some of them struggle and suffer cause of it but they know life wouldn't have been better for that child and they rather have had an abortion.

It is the teaching of the Catholic Church that Mary was pregnant with Jesus the moment she said "Be it done unto me as you have said" to the Angel Gabriel in the Annunciation in Luke.
But lets consider the other argument. Lets say that the soul doesn't enter, or is created until later after the body starts to be formed. If you destroy the body, aren't you still interrupting the work that God is creating? Aren't you still preventing that human being from exisiting? I mean he is already on his way to existance and you interrupt the process by abortion. The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, do you really want to destroy that temple no matter how young?

I wouldn't say that, because ability to move isn't an indication of the presence of a spirit. Just because a person might be in a coma, or paralyzed, or disabled, doesn't mean that their spirit has left their body.
Don't get me wrong, I'm pro-choice, but there's no sense in arguing about when the spirit enters. There's nothing for us to go on scripturally, and science can't detect it. People will always have differing opinions.

Look down to the cellular level. Even a simple single cell organism like the amoeba is consider "alive". Does it have a spirit? Only the creator knows for sure. It does feel pain, it does react to it's environment.
In humans, when the sperm cell enters the egg, cellular replication begins. As soon as the organs form into solid masses they begin to work. If at this point the embryo is reacting to its environment, then it is "alive" by any definition you wish to put on the word.
Personally, the choice of abortion is a matter that should be taken up between a woman and whatever God we believe exists. If our religious beliefs turn out to be true, and there is a day of judgment, then if God himself determines that abortion is a punishable sin, then He will be the one to carry out that punishment. It's not for humankind to judge, only to provide guidance based on the social laws we happen to follow at any point in time. That includes religious beliefs. Muslims think it's a sin to eat pork, but Christians eat it all the time. To pass judgment and conviction on someone for something they do to their own bodies because of our religious beliefs is close to declaring ourselves Gods.

Life begins at conception. It's not dependent on physical movement in the womb. I've noticed many of the posters on YA haven't started thinking yet, however I still consider them as being alive.

When the soul enters the body is probably beyond us to say for sure! I believe that Catholic teaching also holds that a soul is present from the moment of conception. In any case, an embryo is certainly ALIVE from that moment, since it grows.

No. The fact that he/she is moving in the womb simply indicates that he/she has reached the level of development where muscle tissue has formed. The fact that he/she is composed of living cells is the best indication that he/she is alive, and that is true from the moment of conception.

Thats an impossible question to answer and irrelavent because of this fact. The spirit or SOUL of a human. How can you determine when a human has a soul? God says i knew you in the womb.... This seems clear enough.

Religion can't decide the bases of abortion sorry. You have to come up with scientific facts and actual reasoning. I'm NOT trying to be rude. Just saying. I say pro life and pro choice compromise or work together and figure out a solution instead of colliding with each other.
