Then can somebody tell me why that Christians make up 75% of the prison population in The United States, and Atheists only make up 0.02%?

Sure, I worked in corrections for 26 years. Inmates will say anything to work themselves a better deal. Going on record as having religious affiliation scores points with the parole board. Most atheists are no more or less a sinner than most Christians. The difference is that the Christian has a chance for salvation and the atheist does not.

The 75% sounds pretty close to the rate of Christians in the general public though the .02% atheist sounds a bit low.

Atheists usually convert to Christianity WHILE incarcerated. It helps them to get through the day and deal with the horrible situation of prison. It also is a way for them to feel forgiven for their crime even though they're being punished. Some of them use it to try to get parolled early (good behavior, good morals, etc). A lot of prisoners go back to their old ways once they're back on the outside though.

One of three reasons:
1) Atheists do not break the law as often as others
2) Atheists who break the law don't get caught
3) Atheists who break the law and are caught get out of jail time through clever court maneuvers
BTW, sin has nothing to do with laws

Atheists make up 8% of the US population, and this makes them 40 times less likely than average to commit a crime. Atheists are generally better educated and more intelligent, and this makes them less likely to end up in jail.
"A 1972 Gallup poll found that 33% of college graduates believe in creationism, while 55% of high-school-only graduates and 66% of grade- school-only graduates believe in creationism, that is, the belief that God created Adam and Eve, the mythical parents of the human race.
A 1995 Gallup poll showed that 53% of college graduates and 63% of non-graduates considered religion very important in their lives, while 48% of Americans in the $50,000-and-up income range, 56% in the $20,000--$50,000 range and 66% in the less-than-$20,000 range considered religion very important."
Also, a questionnaire given out to the public showed that atheists were less likely to approve of torture, and that atheist doctors performed more charity work than religious ones.

ugh not this again. The people in prison are not practicing their faith and most are not Christian's. They may have converted in prison and many are just saying the denomination they were born into. Anyone can say they are a Christian.
You know a Christian by their works
we are all sinners who fall short of the glory of God

Its either down to large numbers of christians compared to atheists; or far more likely that christians arent any better than atheists as theyd like us to think.

~~~ Vivi,,,, I appreciate your attempt to bolster the Collective Character of my fellow atheists however your "prison statistic" is very misleading without the context of including that USA is approximately 95%+ christian. Your divorce stat is a much more fair example for comparison. ~ Namaste`
That is definitely not representative of normal population, however many people identify themselves as Xian even thought they don't follow or have a clue about it's teachings. Prison is also not an indication of sinfulness, just of doing something illegal. Law and morality should not ever be confused as law is there to allow society to function and protect its members.
some human beings think of that their very own theory is shared by using all and sundry--in spite of if or no longer they prefer it or no longer. so they shove it down the throats of each and every guy or woman on earth and refuse to have self assurance that persons can think of for themselves. humorous how whilst others make assumptions approximately them they get offended and cry "persecution".
