It really seems to me that a person has to place faith in one or another. Maybe someone on here can explain it to me?

Vicarious... - Yeah evolution of a complex organism has never been observed, discovered, or explained by DNA research, but we should just believe it happened.

Some people subscribe to "theistic evolution".

Definitely

depends on how one interprets the Bible and even selective literalists take much of the Bile figuratively

but if people are not interpreting the Bible in the light of the Apostolic Tradition that gave us the whole Bible

and Reason/Natural Law

the with the authoritative One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Holy Ghost-inspired and God-comissioned and Christ-founded Church as chief and legitimate interpreter

then they can make the Bible say anything they want

The Bible tells how to go to Heaven not how the heavens go.

I go to the Bible to meet Jesus as Lord and saviour but not as a book of palenotology, astronomy, geology, physics, botany, biology,
chemistry or any other physical science .

Evolution is obvious IMHO
Check genetics and geological stratification

I see no conflict between the BIble rightly interpreted and evolutionary science

Fundamentalist Atheistic Evolutionism as a philosophical "faith" is militantly opposed to Christianity and other theisms but not from scientific evidences but out of ideological dogmatism.

No. Because, in the eyes of God and His Word, a person that believes in both is no different than a person who does not believe in God at all. Regardless of how they "feel" about it. God's Word is not base on feelings or humanism. This is what the religious crowd fail to understand. God's Word is base on absolutes.

It really does boil down to what part of John 1:3 are they saying they don't understand?

"All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made."

"In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not," 2 Corinthians 4:4

"In the beginning God created..." Genesis 1:1

First of all -- believing in evolution doesn't mean that we don't view The Bible as accurate. We just happen to believe that the creation story in Genesis was written as symbolism. The "original sin" concept references not only to when mankind became aware of God, but also became aware that God could be disobeyed. It did not have to occur as it was specifically laid out in order for it to be truthful and have relevance.

Secondly -- During the time that the Old Testament was written, man did not have enough knowledge to understand the concepts of evolution and how the universe was really brought into being. To them, knowing that God made everything through a series of events was enough. As mankind advanced, and we gained greater knowledge, we also became more questioning. We went searching after more detailed and specific answers ... and we found them through science, which is also a gift from God!

Lastly -- We can see the nature of God through Jesus Christ. Jesus taught in parables, and Jesus *is* God, so why couldn't God have spoken to us using parables and symbolism as well? For example, when Jesus told the story of the prodigal son, it doesn't matter whether there was an actual son or if the story was "historically accurate". What mattered was the meaning behind the story.

The same thing applies here. Regardless if God formed us from clay or brought us forth from his previous creations, it still doesn't change the fact that God made us and loved us!

No there is no room for a Christian to ride the fence on this issue. The Evolution "theory" is Satan's biggest lie and it has never been proven.
Luke 16:13 No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.

On accuracy? None. You don't have to have faith in the theory of evolution, it'd be like having faith in gravity, or the laws of motion. No faith needed.

The bible is not science, believe what you want about human interaction (most of those writings are decent moral rules). Just don't confuse a religious book for real science.

That explain any?

Most Christians believe the Bible to be a religious book, not a scientific text. The Bible talks about Why, science tells us How.

Separate from that, I want to say that there are a lot of Christians who make the Bible their God. Only God is God. The Bible is a tool, a good tool, but only a tool.

The bible has already been proven false since any part of the book needs to be disproven to prove the whole thing false because it is "god breathed" thereby making it perfect.

Evolution has been repeatedly proven correct.

Then there is that whole science being defined as "Natural explanations for occurances." So no, you cannot hold to both without lying to yourself.

Lastly, faith is the belief in something without proof. Evolution has insurmountable amounts of proof. No faith required.

It is possible. If you believe in physical evolution then man became a better man over time and evolved. You can mix this with mental evolution. Humans received a conscience from God and the ability to invent and over come natural desires. This could be based on the bible.

They call it theistic evolution, believing that evolution was how God created man.
No. It does NOT hold water. Creation according to the Bible, and the theory of evolution contradict each other completely.

No you can't hold to both. That's the trouble. People who truly believe in creation, do so at a price. People view them as intolerant and unbending, and are the target of persecution. So, unwilling to pay that price, some choose to "say" they believe in a combination of the two. No. You are either for creationism or opposed to it. Simple as that !
