Most of the atheists I know are ex catholic and are very fundamentalist (except for one ex jehovah, a jew, and a gay ex muslim) What is it about catholisism that make us ex altar boys into fully commited atheists? (ps I welcome all converts to atheism from any faith)

I'm not suicidal, I just have a question.Do you believe that suicides go to Heaven? I believe that once Jesus saves you, you're saved for good, so doesn't that mean that even if you kill yourself, you'll still go to Heaven?

Ok, I asked some of these, but decided to re-do it, so I'll explain again. I've been reading books by Josh McDowel with some scary statistics about todays American, teenage Christians. I thought I would ask some of the questions from his survey and compare my stats. with his. Sorry, but this only for Christians. I may also be posting this on the polls and surveys section, so please only answer once. Once I end this question, I will post my combined results and his. But please, do not start answering until I write under additional details, THE END.

1.Gender
2.Age

My question is how do you all come up with the confidence to confess the crap you have done to priests? Like for example lets say there is this black guy. We will call him Mark. He is checking out videos on Youtube and he gets all pissed off over this one derogatory comment made about his race by some white dude. So, Mark gets in this racial cyberwar with this guy and types the most horrid racist comments about the white race. When he finishes typing, he says, " Oh gosh, what have I done?! I didn't mean anything I have just typed. I don't hate white people!" and the local priest at his church is white.
or someone like this girl (Mary). She is a devout Catholic. She is not primiscous and considers herself straight. however, one day, she is with her best friend Sarah, something happened, next thing you know, they are having sex and for the time, she enjoyed it, but now she deeply regrets it and is very ashamed. How do you confess stuff like that?
What if the priest tells others?

I've looked and looked, I've asked people, and I still can't find it. I hear all the time that christianity is aginit, but I don't see it in the bible. Now, if you have to take everything in the bible LITERALLY, then I REALLY can't find it. So give me that one -- the literal one, and I'll even accept the interpretive ones. I simply can't find them.

The last time that I can remember actually being inside a church for something other than a wedding is when I was 14 years old. The youth pastor was lecturing us on why being homosexual is wrong. I started arguing with him about it and it became this big dramatic event where everyone basically acted like I was some kind of alien for questioning the guy. That was the first time I felt truly disgusted with Christianity.

what does he do with it? Does he go and pray for you?

How does he know what to pray for you unless he keeps a record of your wrongs to present before God?

What if he "forgets" to intercede on behalf of you?

As stated by theists throughout history, that God and Satan do not get along. So God rules heaven and the Devil rules Hell. What would the motivation be for Satan to therefore do any of God's bidding, when all of us atheists and evil non-believers are thrown into Hell to be punished? I would hedge my bet that the Devil would do nothing that God wanted him to, so the punishment would never happen, etc.

I'm atheist, but let's assume the Christians are right for a minute. In pretty much all societies, in the prison system there is a certain amont of jail time depending on the crime. Someone who stole a piece of gum is not gonna get the same sentence as a murderer. So why does god sentence people to hell forever. Shouldn't there be like time lines. Forever is pretty harsh. Why should someone who commited crimes all their life spend the same amount of time in hell as someone who was a good person all their life but didn't believe in jesus???

Why do theists justify life with creation because of the small probability of the conditions necessary to life? How can you say that just because our planet is in the perfect conditions, that this must all have been created? This is hard to explain in text, but I'll try my best.... People who argue creation seem to be thinking deductively. Think of it inductively....Yes, the probabilty is small, but that's exactly why we haven't found life elsewhere. Perhaps that's exactly why we are the only living things we've found - because our habitat is just that, a small probability. It's like having a bag of many marbles. If one were to pull out an unfavorable marble, one couldn't claim that it was pre-planned. No matter how small the probability of pulling that one marble, all the outcomes have the same probability, right? No matter how small the chance of life happening, all the possible conditions for a hunk of rock floating in space are the same.

This past Saturday, my dad visited and brought over a truckload of boxes of things that were mine when I was little. In one of the boxes I found a diary that I had written at 12 years old. While reading the diary, I found an exerpt that read:

"...I do not believe in God, but I go to church because my mom makes me. That makes me a hypocrite..."

I was very surprised when I read this. I was attending Catholic school at the time that I wrote that diary (at age 12). I never realized that I knew at such a young age what my beliefs were. I might not have known to the extent that I do now, but it's interesting to get this glimpse of my beliefs about religion and spirituality from such a young age.

A British Teacher in Sudan has been arrested and threatened with jail for blasphemy. Her crime was to allow the 6 & 7 year olf children in her class to name a class teddy bear Muhammed.
The Ministry of Education have said she may face forty lashes and/or imprisonment.
Do you think this is the correct approach?

Any day now, he will be spewing the Happy Holiday vs. Merry Christmas, it's a liberal media left wing conspiracy to destroy Christianity through our anti-Jesus shopping greetings. The sky is falling, the sky is falling people don't you see it people, now go buy my latest book.

Only reason I ask is to avoid it this year to the best of my ability. God, save me from your rabid followers. Thanks
