I celebrate the birth of two of the most important men who have ever lived. One is Jesus (just because I don't think he is God doesn't mean I don't think he is great). The other is Isaac Newton -- born December 25, 1642.
I also celebrate the birthdays of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King.

A day that I will always have off work. YEAH!!! Now THAT'S a reason to celebrate!!! I also celebrate it because I know when I return to work on the 26th they will have turned off that goddamned canned Christmas muzak that is piped over the PA system from Thanksgiving on.
Ranto, sorry to burst your bubble, but your (and my) hero Isaac Newton was born on 4 Jan 1643.

Christmas, Giftmas, barfmas. . .what's the difference? I like the secular christmas, with the upbeat message of this being a time to think well of others, do for others, and make the kids happy. I call it christmas and it doesn't have a single religious meaning for me except for the historical stuff. It's a really good holiday and one of the good things to come from christianity. One of the few.

I do not observe anything then, but 12/25 is just winter soltice festivals. Jesus was born in summer...if he was born at all. I have not believed in Jesus since i was age 8 or 9.

Don't ask me. I don't celebrate holidays per se. As far as I'm concerned, every day is a cause to celebrate.

Just because Jesus isn't god doesn't make his life less worthy of our attention and respect. Even if he's a fictional character, the lesson of "Love your neighbor as yourself." is worth a day or so out of your year.
