The whole "respect is earned" thing is BS. That would mean I'm to be disrespectful to people I don't know.

No, respect should be given until lost. You should treat someone respectfully until they prove to you that they are not worthy of it.

Way before Jesus was born, there were 3 individuals people looked at as gods. interestingly enough all these 3 gods were born to a VIRGIN in a cave, who claimed they were all gods children, and get this, all three were crucified and had a terrible deaths, tortured and after their deaths they were all ressurected and taken by their father into heaven. What a coincidence, dont you see christians all these stories are copied. These gods were Dionysus/Bacchus186 BCE, OsirisC. 3000 BCE and Horus, Tammuz 2000 BCE do the research. I doubt alot of christians will answer my question!!

it is almost as if the authers of the bible knew that these questions would be asked and quickly put a answer in the bible just to shut us up, and this makes the believers more gullible

what do you think

I was raised as a Christian, but as an adult I have not attended a church service. My kids can go to church (and do on occasion), but i don't. I have and continue to see the church as one of the most judgmental places on earth, between themselves and other denominations as well as the secular world. And those Christians that judge a book by it's cover are the worst of all. Give people a chance before you judge!

...can a Christian be saved and go to Heaven if he confesses his sins to God, repents, calls and believes on Jesus, gets baptized and takes communion even if they go to a Methodist or Baptist church and never to a Catholic church?

My auntie was watching the Christian Channel on TV when they had a segment about the Jews and how they're God's people and how they've been wronged through History. The next part they showed was about Adolf Hitler and what influenced him to do what he did to the Jews. Part of the reason why he did what he did was from a book that he read by "Martin Luther"( the Martin Luther who spearheaded Protestant Christianity, the Christianity that most Americans follow today) After I heard this I did my own research and indeed found out that Martin Luther said what he said about the Jews. ( just search for it on Wikipedia or go to your public library) After I read this I just started to read about Christianity and where it came from and I read about my denomination and how its a sub-denomination from Protestant and I read about the Bible and how it was hand written, then went from that place to this place & from this place to that place. It was changed so many times! How could it be the original?

Jesus camp:

Westboro Baptist:

Bombing abortion clinic bombings, etc.

If you view the videos of these kids in the Jesus camp or westboro they really love what they're doing.

How long before the line is crossed and spiritual warfare manifests itself in physical violence.

How many more generations of this teaching will yield this?

The theology and doctrines are already in place for such a jump to occur.

Westboro for example are Calvinists as such believes in election.

Simply put, God already determined who is saved and who isn't.

It is not a stretch to believe that a sick mind would go on killing spree saying they are doing people a favor as the ones elected by God will get to go to heaven while the others were destined for hell anyways.

There seems to be a huge potential for abuse.

I think we should learn good things from every religion.

Religions are created by human beings. They aren't perfect. All holy books contain a lot of un-scientific material.
If i am right, according to Holy Bible,Sun revolves around Earth.
Just like that, there are hundreds of examples.

Back to my question - So, there is something wrong in all religions , though there are lots of good things.
'So, one should not just stick to a particular religion. We should learn good things from all sources .

That flexibility is lacking in a lot of religious people. They keep criticizing other religions & aren't willing to accept the fact that a lot of things in their own religion aren't right.

Thank you.

Cheers!!!

I was taught this in my bible class, but then I started thinking. How could a Jewish person be in a Christian setting as far worshiping God? I'm confused.

I am a Calvinist, and we use the Presbyterian hymn book in our church (my dad is the pastor), but we have the edition of the book that has all the songs about baptizing infants taken out. I just want to know why you think that we're supposed to baptize unsaved people.

I wish I had the flair for writing above all else, there are authors who gracefully weave their stories and have a passion with words, it's quite enchanting.

Extras: I wish I could sing and play the guitar

Ok, first off I am an Atheist. I do not believe in God at all. I believe man made God out of fear, both of death and of being alone in the world. But thats how I feel and I have the right to feel that way if I'd like, just like you have the right to believe what you'd like.

Anyways this is not about me or that. My question is if it is weird for me to be happy for someone because before they died they found God? My friend was Nine-teen years and a few months ago he was driving home from his job on the express way when he ended up losing control of his vehicle and flying off the road upside down into a small river, where he slowly drowned as his car sank. Now since then my faith has only faded more, but as I think back I can't help but be happy for him, not because of death but because of the happiness he got before he died....

If Islam is trying to help us to understand their ways, how can they defend the punishment of a rape victim, by turning HER into the guilty party. Even if she was out, and about at night? This makes her guilty of bad judgment, nothing else.
ANYWHERE else, the woman is treated for trauma, and taken to a hospital, treated, and given information on how to get counseling. In this case, she is sentenced to 200 lashes.
Where is the justice here, people? The husband, says the judge in the case has a vendetta, against their family.
Why was this woman tried, in the first place?>>>How is this part of your culture, right?. Will this sentence actually be carried out?
I can not, for the life of me, understand how this kind of punishment, can be carried out AGAINST the victim. Why
is Islamic law so unjust??
Please help us to gain some knowledge, and understanding in this kind of miscarriage of justice.
