Devout followers of Islam pray formally as a community five times a day. Frequently in other moments, they pray using a set of beads quite similar to the Catholic Rosary. When confronted with challenging circumstances, they ask for the guidance of Allah. They look to the Prophet and holy men of the past for guidance and inspiration, as many Christians do with Saints. Islam is neither inherently better nor worse in its main principles as Judaism or Christianity, and is equally susceptible to manipulation and distortion as those religions.

Hello Kayne,
The physical prayers are called Salat, they’re five times a day. But they also have a spiritual side to them.
We’re all human, and we all get busy with life sometimes that we forget that everything nice we have in life is from God. That is why the Salat are obligatory, we forget, and God wants us to remember.
The other prayer is called Du’a, which means to call, or plead. A Duaa is the simple words we say to God that are coming from our heart.
A person can be up, alone in the middle of the night, calls God and says: I’m tired, God. Help me. … And that is considered a Du’a, a call to God, a prayer.
God loves to hear us asking him, he always accepts good Du’as, but the way he accepts them differs.
If what we asked for was good for us, we will get it. If it wasn’t (And God knows best) then God will give us something else better than the thing we asked for, and sometimes He will save it as a reward for the Day of Judgment.
God says in a divine saying: “Come to me walking, and I will come to you running.”
God just wants a small sign from us that we WANT to be closer to him, and He will make the way to Him easier for us, and before we know it, we’re at God's door (metapor :p)

TRUE Muslims have continuous relation with Allah (SWT), Through daily prayers and Duaa (supplication) as well as other rituals , Allah stated that he is nearer to his servant than his own blood veins to him ( Quran: If my servants inquired me of anything tell them MOHD that I am so near to answer).
Not all prayers and supplications are done out of duty and work , but as personal relation as well .
Summary : BIG YES

He is my best friend. We hang out at Dennie's and play pinball together. We even took some pics on our last holiday, Mohamed was there too. Wanna see?
Allah is my super special friend, but we broke up with the relationship (he was too needy).
