religion cannot be defined.....its too vast to be caught in the boundaries of few words....it does not necessaraly mean hinduism,or islam nor does is it bound to a supreme power....it is actually a source of peace and pleasure....and actually even though the first word related to religion is god but we forget that god too at the end of the day is " pure soul" be it of rama or christ or even of a little girl ....its purity and freedom...................
and when do we become religious........well even though i agree that in the begining whem man wasnt aware of the variuos natural process ocurring around him..he thought of divine force ....and now we know about things happening around us but there is one thing that has remained unchanged and that is
"religion is preached and practiced for FEELING SECURE THAT THERE IS SOMONE UP THERE WHO WILL HELP US........."
hinduism, islam or whatever religion we practice but the biggest religion of all times has been and will be "humanity"
and that makes us brothers and sisters......so lets hold hands and spread LOVE

My thought is: When did "Religion" become a bad word?
I'm baffled at how the word "religion" is almost always used in a derogatory way lately. When did that happen? It reminds me of how, a long time ago, the word "gay" used to mean "happy". (It still does in a dictionary.) But now if you tell someone, "gee, you sure are gay today", they might think you're calling them a homosexual.
Words have been getting twisted up a lot in modern culture. No wonder people don't communicate very well.
The Merriam-Webster defines "religion" as:
- : the service and worship of God or the supernatural: commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance
- : a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices
Sounds okay to me. Any worshippers of ANY religion have a problem with that definition? I believe that people who say "religion" in a negative way are the "do-your-own-thing" type of people. They "personalize" God, and forget that we are a human family, and like all families, we have our traditions: They forget that families have special days, special little things they do AS a family, and so does the family of God.
I love my Catholic faith, I love my Catholic religion, and I love my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Being religious changes your life because everything is then seen and judged from a different perspective. When you believe in G-D, nothing is a "coincidence" anymore. Your choices are affected by your beliefs.
In my life, being religious means that I wake up thanking g-d for giving me my life back, I thank g-d before and after I eat something, I only go live where there will be some people from my faith, I can only marry someone who share my beliefs etc.

Being religious absolves one of responsibility for ones actions or inaction's. You hear it all the time...God/Jesus says to do this or that...then they're left to take the blame when some idiot does something bad to someone else. Than all one needs to do is seek forgiveness/absolution than go right on doing the bad things they do.
We still have unanswered questions: Where did we come from? Why are we here? etc. These are being addressed by our philosophers and scientists but they'll probably never adequately answer them. Given there won't be answers to every question religion and faith will continue to exist.

Religion can be a bad thing. BUT being a believer in God and spending time with other people who believe the same way you do. (attending church) ....That gives you a sense of belonging, it helps you understand that you are not alone and that you are here for a reason.

Religion should make a man a human being and not a wild animal. as most of the religions are doing this to day .They are anti -God .They are like that because God did not create them or any religion.

Religion is meant to ensure discipline among humans.
If you are able to be self-disciplined(not out of fear or force),you are an atheist or an agnostic.
In another angle,it is a support to those who lack support.

being religions is recognising your spritual need and keeping up with it..
A MAN once asked Jesus: "Lord, are those who are being saved few?" How did Jesus reply? Did he say: 'Just accept me as your Lord and Savior, and you will be saved'? No! Jesus said: "Exert yourselves vigorously to get in through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will seek to get in but will not be able."—Luke 13:23, 24.
so its not just saying..
i love god
god god god
hes great
hes good
its following the bibles principals and words closely.
