I believe the level of morality on this planet needs to be elevated, if we are ever to do something about all the very serious problems that exist in this world. I believe that all traditional religions need to update their spiritual beliefs, with the best, and newest in spiritual ideas and training techniques. Beliefs do have impact in this world. We need the best available. Science is always trying to keep advancing and growing in knowledge, religion needs to do the same.

The Bible does not say that the sun revolves around the Earth. It says that the Earth cannot be moved, but people take that too literally. Many atheists don't take the time to actually study a specific passage and come up with arguments such as this. The Bible stating that the Earth cannot be moved does not mean that the sun revolves around the Earth, it simply means that no being other than God can move the Earth.
Oops, can't forget this passage:
Luke 17:34-36
"I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left."
If people would properly look into these passages, then they would understand the true meaning. Church breaks down passages like these to help you better understand them. That passage means that while two people in one area will be sleeping at night, two others in a different area will be working during the day, therefore the Earth revolves around the Sun.

The world needs people who are willing to get out of these rigid boundaries. You are Absolutely right in saying that every religion has some plus points and some negative points. What i believe in is that one should be a good human being, accomodate with other religions....and not be a fanatic....We all are the same and by sticking with this orthodox behaviour we can't do any good to the world.

Some people need a religion and if they accept one it follows that they must accept the writings on which it is based. The extreme is the fundamental Christians who believe the bible is all true. It does not matter if you show them absolute proof that it is not they will not accept that because they can't and similarly the more liberal Christians have to believe that their idea of a religion is the true one

In some religions, one of the central tenets is that their religion is the only true religion, all others are false. Naturally, this leads to an "us vs them" environment, where adherents to these religions follow them exclusively, and no others.
But yes, I agree with you. If you only take the good things from all religions and leave out the bad things, you will have a large and very diverse stack of good things to live your life by... a much larger and more encompassing stack than anyone could get from a single religion.

Who you calling religious people?
The religious zealots are ignorant puppets, acting on the command of evil puppeteers (generally a thug). Most of the religious people are not only flexible but understand other religions. Look at Mahatma Gandhi, Guru Nanak, Swami Vivekanada .

thats because people are arrogant, they are closed minded and not willing to accept other veiws on how life should be lived. I beleave christianity was glorified by the u.s government, if you think about it the u.s is based on this religion even though they say we are free to choose, there is so much more and i cant really to far into detail without writing a book. people need to seriously open there minds, and learn how to think for themselves, instead of beleaving all the crap that is pounded into there heads the media and extremists

First I'd like to say I'm not trying to be arrogant or condescending . . .
Second I'm speaking from the Christian point of view.
The reason why we (Christians) don't exibit flexibility is because that Jesus Himself stated in John 14:6
"Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me."
That statement eliminates any other possibility for other "gods".
It is as if He is saying -it's not Buddha -it's not Mohamed -it's not Vishnu -it's not Zarathustra It's me -I'm the one you go through to get to God.
As a Christian I can't be flexible with this statement as it is an absolute statement made by Christ Himself. I know this will offend many but I didn't write the scriptures . . .
If you think about it absolute truth only fits in one box and that box never changes . . . so from the outside perspective it seems inflexible. Hope this helps.

One has to ask each one specifically and not jus generalise as it leads nowhere.so ask the question specifically and cite authrity from the scriputure concerned that does not allow flexibility and preaches stiffness and hatred against those who are not in its fold .
Or at least cite the scripture that is inciting violence and anbd hatered against people who are in no way conscerned with any particular religion.
Let everybody cite what is bad in theother religions also so that people intheforum can see , understand , think and judge for themselves .but remembeer that the religious scriptures shojuld be quoted in support of one's argument. confine to the teaching sof he religionand ot the pervert practices done by some people inalkl religions .
The cause of all troubles is that people hav been brainwahsed for thousands of years to believe that the God who could not save himself would save humanity
"Eli , eli , lama sabasthanani?."

ITS BECAUSE THEY feel tht they are greater than the religion itself...... religion was brought into existence as per the knowlegde and requirement of that era and now with changing times its obious that we change......no religion claims itself too be superior and if any one does then he is not religious,,,,,
religion itself preaches too dump what is unreal and take up whats true.....i agree montitude that FLEXIBLITY Iis what is needed and tht flexibilty itself is preached by religion....even our ancestors must hav adopted somethng new which later became "religion"...so let us now adopt new.....
