My auntie was watching the Christian Channel on TV when they had a segment about the Jews and how they're God's people and how they've been wronged through History. The next part they showed was about Adolf Hitler and what influenced him to do what he did to the Jews. Part of the reason why he did what he did was from a book that he read by "Martin Luther"( the Martin Luther who spearheaded Protestant Christianity, the Christianity that most Americans follow today) After I heard this I did my own research and indeed found out that Martin Luther said what he said about the Jews. ( just search for it on Wikipedia or go to your public library) After I read this I just started to read about Christianity and where it came from and I read about my denomination and how its a sub-denomination from Protestant and I read about the Bible and how it was hand written, then went from that place to this place & from this place to that place. It was changed so many times! How could it be the original?

I have heard alot of great answers from some of you who are with me and against me. It was my mistake in writing the that the Bible was rewritten I wasn't paying close attention to what I was writing. The proper question I should of asked was "Why do people look at the Bible as the "EXACT" word of God when it has been translated & revised so many times?" And to those of you who state for me to prove it, its not possible for me to go back to the The First Council of Nicaea and sit down and listen to those who decided Jesus did this or jesus did that and it is not possible for me to go back and look at those who first wrote down the Bible that most Christians read today, as it is not possible for you to go back and for you to tell me that the Bible u are reading right now is the same as theirs. And to the person who said I was reading the wrong version, I am a Baptist or was a Baptist and read The King James Version and the New International Version.

Also Lol Some of you ask me to prove that it was changed. So you are telling me that when the Bible was first starting out and started spreading to different empires such as the Roman Empire (the same Romans who were on a conquest to take over the world and make everyone follow there laws and the way they lived) that the Romans wouldnt change the Bible in any way to fit their way of living???

The Bible has never been rewritten. Where did you get that?
The books were written by scribes but there is only one version of each one - any other account or belief about that is fabricated or assumed. Don't do that. There are translations (King James, modern English, children's) but the translations are false if they change any slight meaning of the text.
Some religions like the Mormons believe in ongoing revelation, it makes them a cult - the Bible is whole and complete, it does not need to be rewritten. God doesn't need rewrites.
Martin Luther did write some horrible things about Jews - but that is NOT the Bible.
Contrary to the above by definition all true Christians will beleive that the BIble is the inspired word of God.

What we refer to as "The Old Testiment" was supposed to have been handed to Moses, along with the 10 commandments, by God. These books of the Bible form the Torah, which is the Jewish holy book. The new testament is the work of men, some parts penned some 400 years after the event, although the bits that mostly form the bible were laid out by Saul/Paul. What to put into the bible was also debated at a great meating held in Rome by Constantine, who had his own agenda. In addition to this dubious text, Hitler also believed that the Arean race originated in Atlantis. SS recruites had to attend secret serimonies that were supposed to re-create something or other related to Atlantis and the Teutonic knights. You can therefore conclude that Hitler was probably misgueded anyway and was mearly using certain texts from the New Testament as a tool to gain power. Pass. Luck

It is not.

Written by men. Edited by men. Mistranslated by men. All several times over.

All religions are the creation of men.

As for Martin Luther and the Jews, he was just carrying on the 'good' traditions of the Catholic Church. Check out the Spanish Inquisition and the start of the first crusade.

Remember, the bible stitches up the Jews for the crucifixion of Jesus. Never mind that it was Romans executing someone in the Roman way, carrying out the orders of a Roman judge. The Romans have to be exonerated, otherwise how will Paul sell his religion to the Romans? One quick rewrite later and it is the Jew's fault. While we are at it, lets get rid of these dietary requirements - telling the Romans that they can't eat shellfish or pork is not going to fly either.

Not all Christians believe the Bible is inspired by God, although alot do. Some believe it is a book of poetic stories that are meant to explain Jesus' teachings in an easier way. Thats one of the main problems with the Bible, the information is so outdated it requires interpretation from such people as the Pope (who writes his encyclicals).

The short answer to your question is because many religious leaders believe that they have been inspired as they write, even though it has been written by humans many years later the true stories and words they write are all inspired by God. Basically he makes them write it.

Also the Bible hasn't been changed and rewritten that many times. And if you read the end of Revelations you'll know exactly why it hasn't :P

There were very few words that were mistranslated, but not the whole Bible or books in the Bible. The mistranslated WORDS were changed to the correct ones. The Bible hasn't been "rewritten", only translated to a more modern language; but same message.

If you want the REAL message, learn Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic, then you can read the "REAL" message you so long to read.

Note: COPYIST'S error... not WRITER'S error.

well, the Bible is "The Word" and "in The Beginning was The Word and The Word was with God and was God" so when a Christian holds a Bible in his hand he is holding the creator of the entire universe in his palm. accuracy of historical facts make no difference. only faith counts as meaningful and when you have a faith that says that you can hold God in your hand thereby have God's authority it wouldn't be to your advantage to ask uncomfortable questions.

PS. most Christians don't even know what the Council of Nicaea is.

With respect, the allegation, made by many, that the bible has been changed and rewritten many times is inaccurate. Comparisons of the ancient texts, like the Dead Sea Scrolls, with translation today show only minor variations from the original texts and those are most spelling etc.

The Illiad and the Odyssey weren't written down for literally hundreds of years (being memorized passed along via an oral tradition). By contrast, the Bible was written down and feverishly protected over millenia. You're confusing "translations" with "changes". It's true some translations might be substandard in some regards, but the original text remains.

It is a miraculous display of God's soveriegnty that He has preserved His message to mankind for over 2,000 years.

The Bible was written over a period of 1,400 years by 40+ different writers and in three different languages. It is like no other book in history.

These writers did not pen their own thoughts about God for us to read. The Bible is God's revelation of Himself to us. The scriptures state that obedient men where led to write exactly what the Holy Spirit of God inspired them to write.

The fact that the original scriptures were copied by hand time after time actually help to substantiate the message of the original text. Currently there are nearly 5,000 copies of the original text in many different languages. It is actually through comparing these manuscripts that we can be confident of what the original said.

You are correct in saying that copies tend to change due to honest mistakes in copying and, unfortunately, dishonest changes to promote specific agendas. But, with nearly 5,000 copies of the original you can ferret out the obvious mistakes and we are left with overwhelming evidence pointing to what the original text actually said. This is the evidence that our current Bibles are based on so no matter what translation of the Bible you read (ie... KJV, NASB, NIV, NLT, etc.) you can be confident that what you read in your Bible today is what the original writers actually wrote.

The credibility of the Biblical text has been tested with the same tests that all literature of antiquity is tested by and the Bible produces more evidence to substantiate it's authenticity than any other literature of antiquity. The next closest body of work is Homers Illyiad.

Marcus, that only answers one part of your questioning. We've only established that what we read today in the Bible is actually what the original writers wrote. You still have to investigate whether or not what the original writers wrote was the truth.

Then you have to come to grips with the supernatural claims that Jesus Christ made about Himself.

Every christian must go through this process of investigating why you believe what you claim. So, do your research.

You've already found that many christians have done and said things that are incorrigible and this will continue. Humans will always dissappoint you and that is why you should never judge the character of God through the lives of humans.

Go to your library or internet and use a parallel Hebrew/Greek to English Bible and study God's word prayerfully, sincerely, and honestly. God wants you to know Him and He wants to reveal Himself to you through His word.

All of us humans make so much noise on both sides of this argument. The argument of Faith in Jesus Christ v.s. Faith in ? v.s. Faith in self and there are a myriad of sub-arguments to infinity. Frankly, it's overwhelming.

Try getting alone with your Bible and pray to God asking Him to reveal Himself to you.

Hebrews 4:12-13 "For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account."
