What do you all think of Halloween? I've seen a lot of you say it's related to satan the devil etc so wondered in general the overall opinion?

Also do you see it as a christian holiday?

Wld you stop your children celebrating it? If so why?

(Before anyone corrects me on any of the above statements I'm pagan!)

"I like to ask the “No God–Don’t Know God” crowd to respond to the following hypothetical.

Suppose you awaken alone in your house with its doors and windows locked to find your table set with a scrumptious breakfast awaiting you. Which explanation satisfies you? Your breakfast always existed in its present form, or your breakfast organized itself from lesser matter? Maybe the eggs, ham and cheese just evolved into an omelet, the muffin popped itself into the toaster then rolled around in the butter, the oranges squeezed each other, and there’s coffee but no Mr. Coffee.

The response is usually an ontological admission, as in, “Somebody came into my house while I was asleep and fixed breakfast,” or a simple “I don’t know.” I’m amazed at the atheists who find it easy to swallow the big bang but not the evolving breakfast." Janet M Larue

In Thailand there is a two-tier monkhood for the Buddhists. How about a two layered priesthood in Catholicism? You could have one group of married priests and a 'super-elite' group of celibate ones. But the latter would be strictly vetted to ensure they can cope with the celibacy. I don't think anyone has suggested this before, it's just my idea.

Since the Sabbath is Saturday, why do most Christians ignore it. If you google this issue you will see that official Christian doctrine does NOT say that Sunday is the Christian Sabbath. Saturday is the 7th Day which is the Sabbath. Sunday is a Christian day of worship. Nowhere in the New Testament does it say that the Sabbath was changed to Sunday.

My theory here is that Christians don't have to keep the Sabbath any longer.

Or Both?

Remember, true Fundies don't celebrate Christmas because of the "mas."

Would some here say there is little difference between Catties and Pagans?

Why does a prayer for healing of amputation not get answered? How about a prayer for reversing aging, or a prayer for an object to pop into your hand from nowhere? Why don't those ever work?

You'd think that being convinced of the non-existence of God they would just ignore belivers. But, they constantly obsess over them. Why? ...and please don't insult us by saying atheim is not a religion...the bare fact that you answer this proves it is.

People seem to argue about whether Christians are bound by "the Law." There's always a discussion of how Christians don't need to follow "the Law" because Christ fulfilled it, but then the do have to follow "the Law" because Christ did not abolish it and every word of it is still there.

If the law is contained in the Bible, has anyone summarized or listed all of those laws and noted which ones Christians have to follow and which ones they don't?

I've heard people say that "the Law" is the 10 Commandments, but that's not correct either. It may be part of the Law, but the 10 Commandments is not what is referred to by references to "the Law" in the Gospels.

This is a serious question, and not one meant to mock anybody.

seriously, I am wondering.

personally, I know that you don't worship Mary, so where did those fundies get the idea that you do?

are those fundies willing to believe every lie they are fed to them as long as it's against your Church?

Should Bible reading and interpretation be done only by priests and scholars, or can the average person study on their own? I was brought up to believe we leave the teaching to the church but I am wanting to study on my own to grow in my faith. Is this a sin?

No, world. Jesus is not dead. Spirituality is a feeling....
When you feel a divine presence from above, some point
or another in your lifetime, then you will know HE exists.
Unless you climb out of your box, and see this thing for
what it is. You will continue to be misguided by your
carelessness, and shallowness. Miracles happen
every day. And some people who think like you,
have been converted to the other side. So are they
crazy. Of course not. Until you actually speak
to a person who is very close to THE FATHER, then and
only then will you understand. That goes for all, athiest,
pagans, believers of nothing, christians, etc. Do you agree ?
Best answer wins.

Harry Potter and His Dark Materials?

They all have themes that can be interpreted in whatever way you wish. But they are all works of fiction. If you boycott one and not the other that is being inconsitent.

Is it only because it is new? How about 50 years from now, how would they be viewed?

This is a two-part question demanding that you make a HYPOTHETICAL assumption before answering. Be sure to answer both parts or you get no credit and will be labeled an ideologue without the ability to reason objectively.

If it were proven that god exists, name three benefits to society and explain why and how those benefit everyone.

If it were proven that god does not exist (remember this is a hypothetical question), name three benefits to society and explain why and how those benefit everyone.

Please avoid using the Internet or Bible for your answer. Explore your imagination and generate answers from within. This is not a question about whether or not god exists; it is asking what the world would be like in two different situations.

Love is not selective, just as the light of the sun is not selective. It does not make one person special. It is not exclusive. However, the intensity with which true love is felt can vary. The bond that connects you with a person you are "in love" with is the same bond that connects you with the person sitting next to you on a bus, or with a bird, a tree, a flower. Only the degree of intensity with which it felt differs.

What is God? The eternal One Life underneath all the forms of life. What is love? To feel the presence of that One Life deep within yourself and all creatures. To BE it. Therefore, all love love is the love of God.

The US celebrates Halloween more than any other country and our per capata abortion rate is higher than any other country. Is our obsession with mutilation, death, rotten bodies, demons, etc... involving Halloween an outward expression of our depravity as is our wanton slaughtering of innocent babies?

That would take in an enormous group of people who proclaim they are Christian just because they BELONG to a church, yet they never go. I think they are really atheists who don't want to admit it.

God killed all the first-born of Egypt.
Herod killed all the first-born of Israel.

One is portrayed as good, one as bad. Is there a double standard here?
