I think it depends on the show or news program & whether God directs you to or not to watch it.

God directs me to watch a show sometimes. And God directs me to not watch a show sometimes. But I don't watch TV much, because my interest isn't in it. But the news I watch or real time shows. Also, the media is becoming more aware of the market for Christian music or Christian movies. So? We are starting to see Christian music & Christian movies more & more. And then there is the channel 'Daystar' & 'TBN'. And http://us.god.tv online. And other online programs that were on TV before.

I think that the video that was on Sid Roth 'Supernatural' on TV and now available to watch on http://www.sidroth.org/site/PageServer?pagename=tv_watchonline (Earthquake Kelly interviews) were very interesting.

I don't see a problem with Christians watching TV unless they find the program offensive.

There is nothing wrong with knowing what is going on in the world by watching news programs and there are many educational and interesting shows on TV (National Geographic Explorer, etc).

Disney and Pixar have made several really good movies that are played on TV from time to time and can be found regularly on cable or satellite channels.

Of course, if a Christian is watching porn or shows that degrade others, they shouldn't continue to do so because they can become warped and perverse.

I'm not saying Satan doesn't use TV as a weapon against God, I'm saying that a Christian should know what is appropriate and what isn't. I also believe that a Christian should know what he or she is most susceptible to and avoid such things....if it's TV, then avoid TV.....if it is only certain shows, then avoid those shows.

the programing that is offered today is not worth watching...

I wasted a good half hour talking to an idiot at dish-network yesterday complaining about the lack of decent programing...from the "250 package" I have been stuck watching Law and Order or the weather channel all month...

looking into cable or something else....

shopping channels, cartoons, sports, adult programs, soaps,etc.....and the (gag) so called christian channels offered are a mockery or paid shopping stuff.....

there are christian satellite systems available but the networks don't like the competition of GOOD programing....

the medium of TV and the Internet has enabled the world to receive the gospel in areas where nothing was available before...

I haven't watched evening TV in about 5 years, there is so much junk on there. I do let my girl watch her cartoons on PBS and I watch the news and Antique Roadshow. I seldom watch anything more, but would if it was on during the day. Christian television is all some get of Christian teaching, so its OK. I just think with all the agendas being pushed by the media, we have to be very careful.

hawhawhawhaw! If you are a christian, then you might ought to stay away from the computer too. At least television does have a certain degree oversight in regard to content. Most of the channels anyway, and even the sleaziest of channels do have a cut-off point where those authorities that regulate our communication sources have set certain boundaries.

Thus far, there is no such regulatory body charged with the task of policing what goes out over the Internet, so don't you think that the "Satan" you are concerned about would be much more inclined to practise his dastardly deeds through this unregulated medium of mass communication?

Sorry, fellah; looks like you are going to have to sign out, shut down, and dump that 'puter of yours - that is, if you want to put your actions where your mouth is, so to speak. lol.

That would depend upon what kind of programs you are watching on TV.
Should we read the newspaper? A book?

At the very least, a discerning Christian should keep abreast of current events and trends.

Its not the fact that you watch TV its what you watch i believe. Its the same reason why some parents don't like for children to watch innapropriate programs.

lol!
what about Jews, Moslems and Hindus ? There is something in each scripture to make TV *evil*, but I understand, this is yet another christian bashing *question*. You obviously think ALL christians are stupid or are trying to portray them that way.
BTW, what is G-d ???
