Harry Potter and His Dark Materials?

They all have themes that can be interpreted in whatever way you wish. But they are all works of fiction. If you boycott one and not the other that is being inconsitent.

Is it only because it is new? How about 50 years from now, how would they be viewed?

Jessica - you are not getting the point. My point is that boycotting things like is silly.

And no I don't live in the south - don't be a bigot.

The Wizard of Oz is ok because they melt one witch and crush another with a house. That makes it perfectly acceptable.

And Peter Pan is anti-Pastafarian propaganda, so it is also good for children to read.

I don't see how Harry Potter , Peter Pan or Wizard of Oz has anything to do with a religious message. We have read all the Harry Potter's and there is no anti-christian message in there anywhere. It makes no claim of the existence or nonexistence of God or Jesus. It never says that wizardry is a religion, maybe you should read the series.

lol....too funny about bewitched. wonder what the difference is

LOL You certainly are on a roll today.

We don't read Harry Potter in our house. Not interested in reading books about wizards and magic. I won't tell other people that it's "okay" if they ask either. but I'm not going to waste my time burning Harry Potter books or publicly boycotting them. I have better things to do!

Probably not the answer you're looking for, but I'm a Christian and see all three as just works of fiction...have enjoyed reading all of them...so, even though you wish it to be so...not all Christians can be stereotyped into the narrow minded mold that you wish to put us in.

Harry Potter is a lot more blatant with the anti-Christ message. Ultimately it's up to the individual what they want to boycott and what they don't want to boycott. Just like some groups will boycott Christian films because they feel they're too "preachy" or whatever.

One of the most vocal anti-Harry Potter families I know let their kids watch Bewitched on Nick at Night. I called them out on it. He he.

don't forget Star Wars. 30 years ago, all the fundies were up in arms about that, too.

it must be fun to whip yourself into a frenzy over nothing. one gets to feel self-important, that one has found an outlet that one gets to be "right" all the time with the apparent sanction of a god; and no need for any speky little facts.

That is ignorant to deny children of fantasies because you are a propagandist that probably lives in a storm shelter in Southern Mississippi. Get a LIFE!
