I keep hearing our country was founded on Christiany. If they were all Christians (Even though there is extensive proof including self proclamation of Deitist and Universalist by the time they wrote it) why didn't they put the word God in there? They sure were quick to put the first Amendment. If they were so determined for Christianity to rule, why did they do that?

If you never experienced any birth pain at all... and let's assume that in God's perfect world in the Garden of Eden there was no pain at all for you to know and suddenly God tells you point blank, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing!" -- How would you take the "INCREASE" of pain that you never experienced? -- I want an honest answer not a religious one!

Most of the people there visit a church or some other kind of religious gathering/sermon etc. So If most of them believe in God (or some other kind of Creator or Universal force) why are they so materialistic and aggressive? (well i know many of them are Ok, but that society in general is rotten). Why is it so?

In Akron, Ohio, the Lord's Prayer was removed from the city council's daily agenda.
Rev. Barry Lynn said, "I'm delighted that the Akron City Council did the right thing and that no one attending those meetings now feels like a second-class citizen because they don't believe in the Lord's Prayer."
And he's on the side of those wanting to remove the prayer! I don't know any atheists (etc.) on here that feel like second class citizens. What do you think of his comment?

ok . I have ben to this church before in the past . I got messed up because they dont believe in having no TVs or wearing no shorts or ladies wearing pants .
As i hear preaching about this stuff I get confussed and i feel like bagging my head against the wall I fee like jumping on my sister sunday because she had on pants.
Then i feel like if i wear shorts i going to hell i feel like if i watcvh TV i going to hell i feel like if i go swimming i am going to HELL!
I feel so confussed and this church is alive but stric to I feel the harp on stuff to much or I listen to other preachers say its wrong for ladies to wear pants and other stuff like dont do dont do this that or the other . THen this gets in my mind then I fel like beating up girls ladies with pants on .
I do give out gospel tracts to alot but I also feel like screaming so forth .
So do u think I beter get out of this church before I do end up in a crazy house !

I'm falling for a guy who has been recently divorce. According to the bible the divorce is allowed because there was adultery involved. Problem is he was the one who committed it. I don't want to hear that i shouldn't be falling for a known cheater. I've already forgave him for that. A comparative religion course, teaching basic beliefs and both the history and the current state of major world religions. It would be taught objectively like everything else (i.e. no emphasis on one religion or any at all being "truth) and offered as an elective. Would anyone actually have a problem with that?

I just read a question that just asked "Do you think religion should be taught in public schools" and everyone pitched a fit in their answers. The question didn't imply teaching Christianity or any other religion as truth, so I don't see why everyone got so worked up. I think offering a class teaching religion along the lines of what I suggested in the first paragraph would be nice.
