If you never experienced any birth pain at all... and let's assume that in God's perfect world in the Garden of Eden there was no pain at all for you to know and suddenly God tells you point blank, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing!" -- How would you take the "INCREASE" of pain that you never experienced? -- I want an honest answer not a religious one!

if one has no prior knowledge of what pain is.. or what increase is... there would be nothing to be afraid of. We experience pain based on past labels by others calling what we were feeling pain or past experiences. When we do not have this to draw on... then we can not know we have pain let alone have a knowledge of it is increased. Generally speaking of course :) Peace, Ame

The pain in childbearing for human women comes from the increased size of the human head as contrasted with, for instance, the size of a chimpanzee head. Our evolutionary pathway is characterized by increasing intelligence, meaning a larger brain, meaning a larger skull. The people who made up the bible stories (just like the people who believe them today) were too witless to realize this fundamental difference between human anatomy and that of other animals. Clearly these people are on a divergent evolutionary pathway towards smaller brains. Good luck to them is all I can say.

YES, I know I'm not a christian woman, but I didn't think you'd get any sense from them so I had to step in.

You want Christian ladies to answer this religious question without religion in the answer? How are we to do that? That just doesn't make sense.
Anyway, God punished Eve for eating of the forbidden fruit by making women down through the generations to experience pain during child-birth.
It would be no different than a person who has never been in a serious car wreck, to all of a sudden be in a serious car wreck. No one knows till it happens. BUT, luckily, we experience the pain of childbirth, and then it is over. And what we end up with (that baby) made that pain worthwhile. You can survive it simply because you HAVE to.

This is a hard one to answer. If you have never experianced it, then how would you prepare yourself for the pain? or do you mean how would I take God's actions not just the actual pain? I would have to assume you mean God's actions of giving you pain. Have I sinned as Eve did in the garden? Then at least I would know why he was doing it. If i had not sinned, then I would want to know why he was causing me pain.

Well, if its God's decision, God, the Almighty, the Most Gracious, The Most Merciful, The Most Loving, then there is no way I can deny the pain. Might be, he has his reasons to increase the pain, God, is The Most Kind, I trust in him. I think this is my honest answer, not a religious point of view. By the way, I am a Muslim woman. Would you be angry if I answer this? If you are angry, then you are not following God's attributes, which include, God is The Most Patient.

The physical world is both sepsrate and with the spiritual one-I'm not quite sure what your asking-would God do this to you? kind of a thing? God never "did" anything to me-the loss of my mother-the murder of my brother in law-the gift of my life-he gave me the ultimate chance to better my lkife-to grow spiritual while we are on this physical plane. He doesn't cause anything bad-God is ultimate good-he's not a guy with a pitchfork. Jesus said that but people always take others interpretations rather than read themselves-and of course I popped out one child in 3 hours. The other almost died and I went thru an abrupture-but that was my physical body not a thing from God.

You know what's really strange about that?
I've given birth eight times...and the most painful experiences I've had giving birth happened when there was "medical intervention"...seriously.
I'll never forget the "epidural" I had once. Natural birth is far less painful than that shot going directly into my spine! Then there was the "induced labor" I had with my sixth child...UGH!!

And someone probably ought to tell Lord Elpus up there that even dogs and cats have pain in childbirth. I know, I've attended a great many canine and feline births. I'm sure if we could get a veterinarian's opinion, he'd tell us that animals do experience pain in childbirth, similar to what human beings have.
Obviously, since mankind has "dominion" over the animal kingdom, when we fell, so did they...
Unfortunately, lots of animals could tell you (if they could talk)...when their owner is a jerk, they suffer.

OK. This is a rather deep question so I will answer it on the most basic level. Human beings are born with instincts that cannot be explained. A child, for example, will automatically be drawn to an object that is slightly hidden out of "curiosity." Somehow that thing seems good or better. Nobody taught him that. It's the same thing with good things and bad things. A person doesn't have to experience all bad things to know that they are bad. They just know that they don't want to experience them.

I'd be dumbfounded...what is pain? Thats not a question anyone can really answer due to the fact that there was no pain, no discomfort. I'm sure when either adam or eve scratched themselves on a thorn after the left, they probably thought it was the worst feeling they ever had because they never knew any different.

Either I wouldn't have kids or would have to take the pain (but most likely right before the baby is born I would ask for a epidural if available!!)
