The US celebrates Halloween more than any other country and our per capata abortion rate is higher than any other country. Is our obsession with mutilation, death, rotten bodies, demons, etc... involving Halloween an outward expression of our depravity as is our wanton slaughtering of innocent babies?

Sure thing, Jamesmom2, you must not have been in a CVS or Wal Mart or even a middle school lately...

Marooned, you will read my question the way you want, selective perception. I am simply saying that Halloween and abortion are both manifestations of our violent nature as Americans.

Praise Jesus: No, these guys have to "pay to play"... Although I find "pro choice" repugnant, the idea of a man forcing a woman to have an abortion is insane.

There is no doubt. There may be many deniers, but the facts still stand. Let some of these proabortion people explain to a 16 year old why the baby she through in the dumpster today was a human life, when yesterday it was nothing but a choice.

Halloween was brought over here by Irish immigrants in the 1840’s. It’s not just an American thing. We just do all holidays bigger then most. It’s an overindulgence, commercial thing. All cultures have a way to honor the dead and the end of the harvest.
Death is a fact of life and Christians are the only ones that make it out to be a scary thing when it’s not. Christians are the one that introduced all the torture and gore into Halloween. Ever hear of the Inquisition, it’s real history look it up. They are the one’s to give it the name All Hallow’s Eve. It’s another pagan holiday that was Christianized.
So no, I don’t think there is a connection between Halloween and abortions. Duh!

I believe Ireland celebrates Halloween more than any other country but that's beside your point.
Before I say anything else, I must say that instances of rape, incest, mother's life in danger, etc. are outside the realm of my next statement.
The abortion rate is a result of the growing belief that we do not have to be responsible for our actions. Abortion is more and more acceptable because people believe they should be able to live their life exactly how they want to and not deal with the consequences. The whole selfish concept goes against God and even against the foundation of this country which was built on the principle of self sacrifice for those who cannot defend themselves.
We (Americans) do have an issue with horror. Just go to the local movie rental store and see how many horror movies are available. But Halloween isn't the basis for our horror addiction. It may manifest itself on Halloween, but horror simply takes us to an edge that we otherwise couldn't go. Admitingly, our obsession with gore and mutilation may be a sickness.
Enjoyed as fantasy, scary things (not so much gore) are harmless. Keeping our focus on Jesus helps eliminate the negative issues.

NO no no, you have it all wrong. Halloween is not about those things, its about candy. Its about getting to dress up and act silly. It's about scaring your crush. There is nothing serious about Halloween like every other holiday. Just time for fun fun fun!

I'd suspect there may be a connection between our nation's support of cold-blooded murder that some people call executions, and our nation's support of humiliation, degradation and torture that is Guantanamo, and our nations support of movies like Saw and Hostel.
By the way . . .Halloween was created in the USA, so I'd be surprised other nations celebrate it at all.

Remember the slaughter of innocent people in innocent countries, which seems to be a US hobby these days.

the termination of pregnancies prior to the third trimester is not the slaughter of innocent babies.
launching "smart missiles" into an urban centre where there may or may not be "insurgents" and killing civilian bystanders is the slaughter of innocent babies

not that I know of, but I do know that there is a direct relation between the number of abortions and the lack of safe, affordable, available birth control methods
