I'm a Christian.
I like Halloween. I don't see it as threatening at all. I understand its roots, origins, and evolution; and today at large it's just an excuse for kids to dress up and go and get candy. It's fun. There's no reason I'd be against it.
There's also absolutely no reason why it would be considered a "Christian" holiday.
I don't have kids. But I'm dressing up my dog, that's close enough.

While the people who have objections to the celebration of Halloween because it's supposedly 'celebrating the devil/Satan) are Christians, they are actually a very small group of them. The Jehovah's Witnesses also object to Halloween, but they object to the celebration of ANY holiday and even personal birthdays. I'm a Catholic, we ARE Christians, too, and I was other things before I became a Catholic, so I know the 'religious history' of the holiday we now call Halloween.
The word Halloween means 'All Hallows Eve' ... the day before All Saint's Day, which is always celebrated on Nov. 1. Before Christianity, there was the holiday called Samhain (pronounced Saw-wen), which was the Celtic Druid celebration of the 'year's end' and the harvest. People built huge bonfires and danced all night. The dressed up and celebrated the harvest's fruits ... they did NOT celebrate 'corn' because corn (then called maize) was not in Europe until men first came to America until the 1400s.
When I was growing up, I was told that dressing up for Halloween I was supposed to be the opposite of what I really was every day ... which makes sense, with so many little girls today wanting to be Princesses and little boys wanting to be superheros. My kids are now all grown and having kids of their own ... but I never stopped them from celebrating Halloween, and they don't stop their kids from doing it, either. It may be that only the Catholics (Roman Catholic, Orthodox Greek/Russian, or Episcopalian) now celebrate All Saints Day on November 1, but we all think that celebrating Halloween is just a 'fun holiday' ... and yes, we would give candy to any who came to our door but we live in a security building at the top of three flights of stairs ... no kids, no candy (except for us), and no fun. Oh well ... so to all who do celebrate this wonderful and fun holiday ...
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

The Bible teaches that we are not to be any part of the celebration that has anything to do with Satan, Demons, or any unclean spirits. That is exactly what Halloween is. Anyone celebrating this day is in fact allowing themselves to accept the powers of darkness and are in fact celebrating the Day of the Dead.
Even though it has been brought into several of the Churches as innocent kiddie fun, does not make it of the Bible. It is against all of the Bible to celebrate it, and any pastor, minister, or Priest accepting this practice is doing it in sin.
I do not allow my Children to celebrate it, matter of fact my Children are home from school today because our school is having a Halloween Party, and my kids will not celebrate the day of the Dead. This should be the stand for every Christian out there. If they truly love God and believe the Bible then they should not want any part of it.
I think that many Christians celebrate it not knowing the true meaning or history of it, and if they did they would surly not want to have any part of it.

I see it as a mere occasion only. Yes, you may say that it's related to Satan, but remember that what's important today is how people define Halloween. Do people celebrating Halloween today have the same reason as ancient Pagan people for celebrating it? (I said ancient, not modern. Ancient Pagans celebrated many death-related holidays for varying reasons like honoring the dead, sacrifices, superstitions, etc.) Does Halloween, as defined by people today, embody any serious ideals against the Christian faith? Does it mean you praise Satan? Does it mean you humiliate the God? For me, it's OK celebrating it. Many people find it fun. They just do it for fun, not for the Devil.

I love Halloween, it's a holiday where you can dress up in a pretty, scary or silly costume and get candy for it!
I don't think of it as Christian, I think that Halloween has no religion.
I would not stop my children from celebrating it, that would be stupid, it's just a fun thing to do, the only people that would do that are the people who believe that children shouldn't even be able to read Harry Potter books because they encourage Witchcraft.

I see Halloween as a fun holiday. When I was a kid we dressed up and went out "Trick or Treating." The main goal was to get as much candy as I could in a 2 hour period.
I see kids doing the same thing now. I gave out over 15 bags of candy last Saturday night- and it was cold and rainy. Kids were dressed up and were running from house to house to get candy.
I don't see any Satanic worship or anything of the sort. Maybe older kids do that, but they don't come to my door asking for candy.
I'm Catholic. I remember singing "Pumpkin Carols" on Halloween with the Sisters on Halloween itself. This was when the Charlie Brown Halloween episode first came out.

Halloween differs from christian to christian. Some believe that it is a satanist holiday... others don't. There is nothing in the Bible that says if it is wrong or not. Therefore, people take it according to their own convictions. Some christians are more conservative than others, and they tend to be the ones who think that it's satans holiday.
But then there are those christians that know that Halloween is nothing more than what you make of it. I'm a christian, and I love Halloween. It's one of my favorites!
And no, I don't think that it is a christian holiday.

I used to be dead set against it but as I grow in Christ I'm starting to see things differently. Everything is a heart issue. Can I sit at my door and give candy to children without compromising my relationship with God, or anyone else's? I believe so. Will allowing my children to dress up as a cowgirl and a fire fighter somehow cause them or someone else to love Jesus less? No. My only personal conviction is against dressing up as the devil, or a witch, or decorating my home in such a way that would give the appearance of evil. I believe that Christians are new creatures who belong to God and are free.

I think of Halloween as a time of just innocent fun for kids to dressup and collect some candy...that's it. I think adults and their creepy ,sexy type parties help ruin it.Screw all those so- called "Witch" types . They rate with "Trekkies".
I remember (I'm 55) using eyebrow pecil to make whiskers ,dressing like a Bum ,grabbing a pillowcase and tromping through street after suburb street from 6:00 to 8:30 or so ,getting as much loot as I could. Then going home, dumping it on the floor, and looking at one by one.It might as well been gold!
I made sure my kids had a ball at Halloween too!Take the "Evil" out of it change it to Dress up day or Masquerade day,who cares! It is only Satanic if you give it that power.Think about it.I prefer to think of it as a live "Charlie Brown" cartoon!
