In Thailand there is a two-tier monkhood for the Buddhists. How about a two layered priesthood in Catholicism? You could have one group of married priests and a 'super-elite' group of celibate ones. But the latter would be strictly vetted to ensure they can cope with the celibacy. I don't think anyone has suggested this before, it's just my idea.

By sex crisis, do you mean the very few pedophile priests?

According to mental health professionals, pedophilia is not connected to celibacy.

This very small group of child molesters would be just as sick or evil whether or not they had taken a vow of celibacy.

+ Married Priests +

In the last twenty-five years at least seventy-seven married men have been ordained as Catholic priests in the United States.

All were ordained ministers in other Christian denominations.

Sixty-six of these married priests are former Episcopalians, seven are former Lutherans, three are former Methodists, and one is a former Presbyterian.

Orthodox Christians use a similar system:

The Orthodox Church has always allowed married priests and deacons, provided the marriage takes place before ordination. In general, parish priests are to be married as they live in normal society (that is, "in the world" and not a monastery) where Orthodoxy sees marriage as the normative state. Unmarried priests usually live in monasteries since it is there that the unmarried state is the norm, although it sometimes happens that an unmarried priest is assigned to a parish. Widowed priests and deacons may not remarry, and it is common for such a member of the clergy to retire to a monastery (see clerical celibacy). This is also true of widowed wives of clergy, who often do not remarry and may become nuns if their children are grown. Bishops are always celibate. Although Orthodox consider men and women equal before God (Gal. 3:28), only men who are qualified and have no canonical impediments may be ordained bishops, priests, or deacons.

Sounds like an interested idea. Now the REAL question is whether the Vatican would even consider such a thing.

Interestingly enough, St. Peter, who supposedly is supposed to be the first Pope of the Catholic Church was MARRIED.

I would also add another stipulation to the celibate elite group of priests. They are involved in Vatican business that requires NO unsupervised contact with children.

I honestly dont believe that God would have put into Humans the need for sex, which is as forceful and driving as the need for food, and make it pleasurable and also with purpose and then tell Priest they cant have it. I think that they should be able to get married. If you believe in God then most likely you believe in Adam and Eve why not just create Adam then.
Why is sex pleasurable if just for reproduction is just like asking why is food pleasurable if just for nurisment? We could get everything our body needs just from a pill.
And if a priest were not supposed to have sex wouldnt god take away these urges (and I dont think they use saltpeter).
And not to mention, I have to strongly dissagree if your saying these priest dont "pleasure" themselves. They have to release somehow. Through dreams and even so sensitive to even one erotic thought.Humans are imperfect and priest are humans. I just think the whole thing is stupid. I dont believe god would ask anyone to be celibate as long as they are married.

The BEST solution is for the RCC to abandon the unscriptural requirement that priests must be celibate.

1 Tim. 4:1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, 3 FORBIDDING TO MARRY, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

They should depart from the catholic cult and its false teachings altogether.

Catholics are not saved and are not Christians. Catholics believe a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell (Galatians 1).

Bible teachers that said the Vatican and the catholic cult are an antichrist: John Bunyan, John Huss, John Wycliffe, John Calvin, William Tyndale, John Knox, Thomas Bacon, John Wesley, Charles Spurgeon, Samuel Cooper, John Cotton, and Jonathan Edwards

Not a bad idea - it might be part of the answer. But the church sex abuse scandal revolves around children being sexually abused by priests. These priests are pedophiles. They are sexually attracted to children. Being married won't change their preference. Being CELIBATE does not make you a pedophile. Being GAY does not make you a pedophile. It is a sickness - a mental disease. BEING A PEDOPHILE MAKES YOU A PEDOPHILE, and having a different 'outlet' for pent-up sexual energy will not change them. They will still be attracted to, and praying on, children.

while on paper it may seem like a good idea, i don't think the reality of it will work.

I don't think there is a catholic sex crisis. I think in the past there were priests who abused children, and there were other priests who covered for them. But we don't have that problem today.

Today in every diocese you have very strict guidelines and protocols regarding the safety of children. Every year, parents, children, priests, adult volunteers have to attend a safety class. The protection of our children is the up most importance! The church has learned from the past.

Yes it is true, that celibacy is keeping men from joining the priesthood, and we are losing priests. But allowing our priests to marry.... I personally don't want my priest to be married. Right now, my priest is in charge of three churches. He barely has enough time for his priestly duties, how could he have time for a wife and a family. His duty is to his church. If he had a wife and family his loyalty would always be torn. You cant serve two masters and a married priest would always have that problem.
