This is unfortunately someone who is a permanent fixture in my life, so I have no choice but to deal with it. The Nolte is so tired of being taken advantage of, though. I've helped this person on countless occasions, yet they're hell bent on focusing on my weaknesses and negative characteristics.

How do you deal with people like this?

I am a Roman Catholic since birth but am still having issues with why Priests are called "Father", when it clearly says in the Bible

Mt 23:9 "And call no man your father on the earth: for one is your father, `even' he who is in heaven."

Please do not say it is because they are God's representatives on Earth, because he could have easily mentioned this exception- but did not!
Answers greatly appreciated.

ok ok, complicated question & maybe im being ignorant on some points but...

say you're mormon...you have to keep to the mormon faith or you don't go to heaven?

or christian, you have to beleive in the christian god to go to that heaven....muslim....sikh....islam....and so on

what if you're born mentally disabled and do not have the brain capacity to understand what a god or religion is? are they doomed to the pits of hell because they dont have the ability to understand what it is they are meant to believe in?

If Jesus was a Jew, and followed OT laws, then why do the Christians of today pick and choose laws to follow...such as the ones that say we can't eat pork. People will say because since Jesus was crusified, the old laws don't matter anymore, but Jesus himself followed them. And if the old laws don't matter anymore, then why do we follow the Ten Commandments still, as they are in the Old Testament?

This happened first before Jesus and gave hint about Scribes changing the Scriptures:
Then he said to me, "Son of man, eat this scroll I am giving you and fill your stomach with it." So I ate it, and it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth. (Eze 3:3)

It happens again in Revelations were the Two Witnesses old since creation (Spirits of truth) come to reveal more truth about the Scriptures and more.

Revelations 9:10
So I went to the angel, telling him to give me the little book. And he said to me, "Take it and eat it; it will make your stomach bitter, but in your mouth it will be sweet as honey."

This Spirits also represent the reason that the knowledge of God would increase at the end of times.

Daniel 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

God's goal is to put his wisdom in our hearts. not that we follow the books. But that we learn from them. Then be wise.

1 does this effect your faith in the bible to know that the "son of god" had a wife?

2 what significance do you think this will have on the christian church.

i dont want to see any stupid answers like. this is a hoax, its from the discovery channel so i doubt it

I need to write and confess to a catholic priest online. Perhaps, I don't need so much to confess as I need some spiritual guidance and someone to talk to about my faith and how I seem to be losing it. I live in the Edmonton, Alberta, Canada area and any help from anyone whatsoever would be greatly appreciated. I am in great need of advice that I can trust will remain confidential, so if anyone has some ideas of who I can contact via e-mail it would be greatly appreciated. I would prefer if it was a catholic priest simply because much of what I would like to discuss relates to my faith and why I'm drifting away from believing anymore. Thanks to anyone who may have some suggestions for me as to where to turn ?

does anyone on here think that the devil -lucifer- is a textbook tragic hero?
in that he had it allllll going for him, being gods pet favourite, but his fatal flaw -pride and ambition- led to his spectacular flaw
like Macbeth or Othello.
which renders him ultimatly, really quite appealing and sympathtic.
this is sort of a literarure question i suppose...

but i thought i'd get more of a reaction out of you's lot.

People like Wyatt Earp, in all his gun fights, his over coat was riddled with holes, yet he did not get shot?
How about David Copperfield? some of the things he does, like hovering across Niagara Falls, along with many other things he has done.
One more, a Native North American, Crazy Horse. All the battles he was in, leading his band in to battle against the calvary, and not getting shot....some believe its because of his "ear ring" and the reason most men wear "ear rings" in the left ear, for "Luck"

So, the question is, do you think our heavenly Father was protecting these people, or do you think they sold their soul to the devil? how about this, any one thing of the "Matrix"
i know there are many other people that have done things that are just out of this world...i was just board, and thought of asking for opinions, i will not choose a best answer, i will let this one go to vote :)

Before Y2K, many talked about how it was the end, all their bank records would disappear, we would have no electricity...and you should send in money for prayer.

Every time their is a major crisis, these evangalists play on peoples fears and then tell them to send them money and they will pray for an end to the crisis.

And, of course, the money is tax free for these evangalists.

What do you think?

I am very intrested in any expansion on the bible and the unused books. Note: this friend is a very educated man and was not speaking lightly or off the cuff, so to speak...Just Searching.

"pangloss" quoted me from an argument: " 'You state there is no evidence of a God/Creator, as a FACT. Therefore, you realize that you must now prove to me, that evidence is non-existent, and SINCE you cannot prove a negative, you lose.'

Refute:

"Then since you reject all other gods, I will wait with baited breath for you to prove they don't exist."

-------

I want to know how many atheists catch her unreasonable refute to my claim. If you see her as being reasonable, please explain why. If you see her as being unreasonable, please explain why. ALSO, depending on whether you believe it's reasonable or unreasonable, explain the implications of such belief. Ex: "This implication leads to apples being reasonable over bananas."

Most everyone should be familiar enough with me to assume that I will REFER BACK(Just emphasizing!) to this question, as I will respond back to everyone...

If you have any other questions regarding anything I've said previously, let me know. Thanks.

at my child Job. Go ahead and test him. Wasn't satan bound to hell before that, and if so, why would God and he just be sitting around chatting and decide to attack one of his most devout people? I am a Christian and my own reasons for asking, but I wanted to see what is said, especially from people that say the Bible does not contradict itself. Also, if you want to comment on two other subjects I welcome these: If one of the several deadly sins is Jealousy, why did God choose as a commandment that; "I am a jealous God and you will have no others before you"? Why is there two seperate creations listed in Genesis? There, that should cause enough trouble for now.
