Before Y2K, many talked about how it was the end, all their bank records would disappear, we would have no electricity...and you should send in money for prayer.

Every time their is a major crisis, these evangalists play on peoples fears and then tell them to send them money and they will pray for an end to the crisis.

And, of course, the money is tax free for these evangalists.

What do you think?

Being a Christian I can say with some certainty there is the element that you talk about. Christianity is all about helping those that are in need and not putting a price tag on it, unfortunately it is being sold on TV, radio and sometimes from the pulpit from those churches who teach the gospel of prosperity thinking God had intended people to be rich monetarily instead of being rich in spirit.
People do not need a pope, a tele-evangilist or any of these people to have a relationship with God or for God to help them. Paying people for prayer? Prayer is and should be free because our hearts should be on helping people, not seeing how much money that can be bilked from them.
Granted running a TV program takes money, but the tele-evangelist I see usually are dressed in three piece suits and drive luxurious cars.
Most of the people I know that are doing the work of God aren't rich, don't ask people for money and are too busy trying to feed people, reach the youth and adults that don't know him than to be on TV.

tht is how they make their $$$> People are afraid of what the bible will say about the end times, and I agree with you. That is why these evangelists are wealthy. They drive expensive cars and have huge bank accounts, and , well, the poorer people pay for it. Picture little old ladies, on Social Security, sending money for these people. Take a certain man, who has a book out called " A Better You," his suits cost almost 400- 500 dollars each. We can pray for ourselves, and God listenes to them all. We do not need an intercessary to pray for us! We are not stupid, we can pray and be heard. These evangelicals just want money and people are insecure enough to send it.

Yes, and usually, in the end, these greedy fakers are exposed.

God and true Christians does/do not operate on TV like that. These ones are simply puffed up with pride and greed and are always exposd for their greed and wickedness.

Look at Jim Baker, Oral Roberts Jr. and his Wife, Ted Haggart, and that other one trying to fight his way back on cable now. Also, there is a relatively younger televangelist who says contradictory to truthful Godly and Bible standards----this one unbelieveably preaches that "GREED IS GOOD" AND "MATERIAL WEALTH SHOULD BE SOUGHT AFTER".

WOW, beware..

Yes, without a doubt. In a time where a lot of people would rather sit at home on the couch rather then get dressed up and head to church in the morning, these people are very good business men.

I think that most of them do take advantage of people. Generally speaking (there are exceptions) folks called to the ministry do their best work in an actual church setting, dealing with people in the flesh, not over the airwaves.

The one HUGE exception to this was Billy Graham. I honestly believe that Billy Graham was 100% genuine in his ministry. Sadly, his son Franklin has not followed in his father's footsteps.

I think it is a two way thing. Evangelists think they are very smart ripping people off,
and lining their own pockets.
Jesus is a lot smarter, he is receiving the souls brought to God through the Evangelist, and then he will deal with the Evangelist in his own sweet time whither they be good or bad.

The profession of shaman has many advantages. It offers high status with a safe livelihood free of work in the dreary, sweaty sense. In most societies it offers legal privileges and immunities not granted to other men. But it is hard to see how a man who has been given a mandate from on High to spread tidings of joy to all mankind can be seriously interested in taking up a collection to pay his salary; it causes one to suspect that the shaman is on the moral level of any other man. But it’s lovely work if you can stomach it.

just my opinion-smile and enjoy the day

TV evangelists take advantage of people more so than non-TV evangelists. The TV people are all about self promotion, hype, and revenue (with revenue being number one in order to pay for the TV production and theme parks).

Non-TV evangelists are simply annoying...they don't get that you don't want to here them talk at you. And its not because you don't know what they have to say...most of us do, we just don't care because we've made the choice to not believe what they do.

They prey on peoples' emotions. Can you believe that guy who claimed he could talk to the dead 9/11 victims only a few months after 9/11? He should go to jail for his deceit.

not so much as when they start to flash in the screen to send donations and contributions for the propagations of the tv evangelisation which their church is the beneficiaries.
but most of what they saying and preaching are good for the soul and all worth to be thinking about.
