just cuz you like Jesus doesn't mean you have to be as good as he was. That's impossible.

Can Christians go to war? War is a very serious thing, but the Old testament makes it clear that there is a time for war. The hard thing to know is when to fight. Paul admonishes that as much depends on us, we should live peaceably with others. We are also to not hold grudges or retaliate when attacked. But there is a time when evil must be intervened against. In the same way a police officer is justified in shooting an armed murderer, a Christian may have a burden placed on them to take the life of someone who is a danger to others. I personally feel that I would've had to have been a conscientious objector in many of America's wars. Vietnam, Gulf wars 1,2, Korea, WWI, simply because the line of right and wrong is blurred by both sides. It is clear that even the Civil war was not a conflict where God was aiding the righteous cause. The north was divided about slavery and was overall indifferent to the cause of abolition, and they reaped the consequences. But if a war is fought solely to intervene against an obvious evil, with no ulterior motives, then there is nothing wrong with a Christian being involved. There definitely are people who would feel differently about their own ability to participate in a war. Some people could never be a police officer due to the same reason. But I am speaking of myself and what I feel would have to be the requirements before violence became the best action.

at the same time as i'm no longer a follower of Jesus, i do no longer see the contradiction. while did Jesus each and every pontificate that a rustic ought to subjugate itself to evil? nonetheless, in case you have have been given a concern this conflict, you need to relatively have a concern with Lincoln, Washington, Roosevelt, Truman and fantastically much another president the rustic's ever had by way of fact all of those men have been compelled to shield their u . s . a . and their people. base line, Jesus wasn't a huge supporter of tyranny, oppression and slavery. I propose you maintain examining.

Christians are good at justifying war--they've been doing it for over fifteen hundred years. It's funny because they'll mention that the Ten Commandments say "thou shall not commit MURDER" which doesn't include killing someone in war, but it's funny that they suddenly go silent when you mention that whole "turn the other cheek" thing that Jesus said. He's pretty clear about not fighting even in self defense. I'm sure he and Gandhi would have been best buds.
By the way, I happen to agree that sometimes war is necessary, not that I think that the war in Iraq is one of those wars. But I'm not a Christian so I don't have a walking contradiction problem...

If your don't support the war against terror then you must be a supporter of the terrorists, which one are you?
If someone broke into your home and was threatening your family and you had the means in which to stop the threat and protect your family, would you use this force or would you trust in Jesus to save you and your family?
You continue to enjoy your freedoms of being an American because our president decided that the best course of action was to take this fight directly to the terrorists homeland, and because of this decision, America has not suffered another terrorist attack, has it?
Trust in Jesus when the terrorists are attacking you, my friend, I trust my weapons as they will never let me down! And, I fully support the decisions that my President is making in the fight against terrorists, regardless of where it will lead this great country of ours.

I think as Christians it doesn't mean we are doormats or that we should roll over and be stepped on. Sometime war is necessary. Look at our OT ....Personally I don't support the war. However, I will support our troops because they need to know that there are people back home praying for them. There are many men and women that are there without choice. They need to feel supported.

In the bible it says there is a time for war and a time for peace. I do not think this is a holy war, as I do not believe in such things. However, I believe that from thosewho have much ,much should be given. Freedom is not free and I back the troops whether I agree with Bush or not. I think anyone who has compassion and the ability to do so should stand up for those who can't stand up for themselves.

No I'm not insane. That being said I do follow Jesus, however I have no interest in being a martyr nor saint. So until God decides to blithe my enemies and destroy the evil of the world I'll let the U.S. Military and my legally owned firearm do it for me.

God the Son Jesus Christ was an avid teacher of war strategies! For christ's sake!
Luke 14:31 (NIV) "Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Will he not first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand?
And we are a Nation under GOD.. damn it!

No. I don't think war is great, but as long as the war is staying in a foreign land and not here it's fine with me!!!! Are you having to walk around in fear that you might walk right into a bomb situation or have terrorists doing as they please here??? NO!!!! It says in the Bible that when we start trying to take God out of everything then we will start having wars and nations will be rising up against us. America has done this to itself by being so disrespectful to the one true KING!!!
