I need to write and confess to a catholic priest online. Perhaps, I don't need so much to confess as I need some spiritual guidance and someone to talk to about my faith and how I seem to be losing it. I live in the Edmonton, Alberta, Canada area and any help from anyone whatsoever would be greatly appreciated. I am in great need of advice that I can trust will remain confidential, so if anyone has some ideas of who I can contact via e-mail it would be greatly appreciated. I would prefer if it was a catholic priest simply because much of what I would like to discuss relates to my faith and why I'm drifting away from believing anymore. Thanks to anyone who may have some suggestions for me as to where to turn ?

Why not speak to God himself and cut out the middle man?

Catholic Home Study Service... sponsored by the Vincentian Community and the Missouri Knights of Columbus, offers free correspondence courses on the Catholic Faith....

The present-day priest or minister has the God-given right to forgive men's sins or hold them bound for God. Would not the Christian church have died out with the last apostle if these "gifts from God" were not passed on to the present-day clergy through Apostolic Succession?

No, and maybe.

The Sacrament of Confession and Reconciliation can only be received in person and not on-line.

There may be some reliable sites where a Catholic priest can offer guidance on-line but I do not know of any.

I suggest you take a short walk down to your neighborhood Catholic church and talk to the parish priest. That is what he is there for.

Here is a simple search engine to find the closest parish in the Archdiocese of Edmonton: http://www.edmontoncatholic-church.com/parishes.asp

With love in Christ.

Well, there's a Catholic Church in Alberta, right?

Are you Catholic?

You cannot receive the sacrament of reconciliation (confession) online.

If you find the website for a Catholic Church in Alberta, there should be a "contact us" type of link where you can email the priest. I'd start there for discussion. You might as well meet with him face-to-face.

Also, you can email a number of us here that are Catholics and we would be glad to help with your questions.

Thanks to the liberals the priests that are left are far too busy doing regular Parish duty to be on line spiritual advisers but, I feel sorry for you because I know how far the Canadian Church has fallen---I can tell you something that will help---get a copy (maybe from the library or your Church library) of St. Therese' The Little Flower's "The Story of a Soul"---really good. Or St Faustina's Diary---good reading.--Do not give up faith. The Catholic Church is real and from Jesus and when it is all together like it should be without all the liberal crap it is the only way---in the meantime go to www.savior.org and speak to Jesus in real time through the Blessed Sacrament---you can feel his presence.

you can try to go to www.ewtn.com and see where they would recommend but, --good luck.

P.S. funny mentals are a trip aren't they?

if you prefer so, why not. but just like Genghis said, if you're not Catholic, you can't recieve the Sacrament of Reconciliation. you can talk to a priest and confide in him, yes, no one's stopping you.

I can't believe just by the mention of the word "Catholic" fundies automatically spew their hate.

Catholics are not saved and are not Christians. No man can "forgive" your sins. Only Jesus can do that.

Catholics believe a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell (Galatians 1).

Their "priest" needs to be saved himself.
