Apparently this is an old question for you folks. Do we still have any takers; espcially, since I wish to classify it under Religion and Spiritually?

For example I have seen several christians suggest out here that jesus was just a rabbi who was crucified but the rest of his "miracles" are just mythology that must be taken on faith . Would this still constitue a "historical jesus"?

I just recently started dating a guy and I'm 99% positive he believes in God. The problem is my mother. She doesn't want me to end up with a non-christian christian. She herself married a man who was questionable and says that she regrets it but they have been married over 20 years. I know this relationship is still new and fresh, but I am already getting pressure to find out where he stands. My problem is that I am not sure where I stand. So how can I dump him for not being christian "enough". I don't want to. He is a sweet guy, caring, and says that he won't pressure me to do anything I don't want. That is fantastic, because even though I am unsure of where I stand with god right now, I still have morals. I won't cheat, steal, lie, and I plan on waiting for sex until marriage. How do I accept, or at the least understand where my family is coming from and let myself explore the possibilities in this relationship? Can I? Does anyone have experience with this? All help is appreciated.

I mean why do Christians and Atheists go at each others throats all the time? Why can't we just respect each others beliefs?

i am just an ordinary person, just like some of you. i have a simple life, i love my family, my friends, i believe that there is a God, i believe in Christ, and i believe that what Christ teaches are true, but in the present time, many churches who claim that they are christians have used the bible in different interpretations, i am not an upright person, i make mistakes, but i get up on my feet everytime i stumble, i just dont want to join a certain denomination because i find it hard to trust christian proclaiming preachers today. so i always ask the Lord for guidance and help me find him while im all by myself, am i considered to be a christian,?

Would you agree that those who pray, believe they are speaking to god to resolve an issue, but they come up with an answer through their subconcious and believe it is god speaking to them giving them an answer?

I think that prayer is more of a reflection tool, like meditation.

I am just throwing this out here, for Christians, do you think that homosexuality is a result of a person's or their ancestor's sin of idolatry ? Read Romans 1: 18 -32. esp the connection from v23 to 27. There appears to be a link between the two.

Because, as we all well know, a united, peaceful, one-world government is ACTUALLY the precursor to the apocalypse and its leader the anti-Christ himself.

Therefore it would be better for the world to remain divided? Or should we allow such a government to form so as to usher in the one true savior?

SECOND, fun-part, of question:
Based on what I have said can you guess what my personal religious beliefs are?

I'm not putting scientology down. I just think it should have stayed a profitable business as it started out to be. They don't worship anything (such as God or Buddha). Going to church on Sunday consists of studying more LRH doctrine. There is no mass. I mean couldn't Psychiatry become a Religion too?? Or what about Alcoholics Anonymous?? And you only have to pay $1 (if you have it) to go to an AA meeting. I'm curious to see what others think about this.

the Easter Bunny, eggs, Christamas trees, lights, Santa Claus, and presents come into play if it has nothing to do with Christianity.

I don't think that I want to be stuffed into the ground so being buried isn't going to work & then the thought of my body being burned into ashes is rather unsettling for me not to mention that I can't imagine who would do what with my ashes. I personally would like to be put into a mausoleum, in a nice pearl white casket with soft pink satin lining & silver accents.

In your opinion, whether evolved or created, who is the dominant sex of the human species male or female? Which would be more suited to control the policy making of the most powerful country on Earth?

Isn't it rather arrogant to suppose that our modern science can actually tell us the true origins of the universe, when we can't even be sure how many planets there are in this one solar system?
Don't get me wrong, here, science is a wonderful tool, and we all have reason to be thankful for the dedicated men and women who devote their lives to learning about how things work...but it is only a tool, and can't really be expected to answer the "eternal questions" mankind has:
Where did we come from?
Why are we here?
What's the point of my existence?
If these questions are not important to you, fine.
They aren't important to dogs and cats and other animals, either.
If you think science has the answers, please let us know what they are, and provide some sort of logical reasons for these answers.
If not, why not let religion handle what science cannot, and vice versa?
Before you remark that religion ought to do the same, I totally agree with you. Science vs God is a sucker battle...

in order to get into heaven, you have to follow the ten commandments AND believe in god right?

and the only proof or anything that even comes close to it is the bible right?

and the bible could easily have been altered or edited at any point in time right?

and that is assuming it was really the word of god right?

and that is assuming it was translated well into english since it was originally written in hebrew right?

and to top it off we arent supposed to take it literally right?

and it doesnt say what is supposed to be taken literally and whats to be taken figuratively right?

so therefore there arent really any facts right? or at least they cant be proven?

and every other religious book claims to be the right one doesnt it?

and if we choose the wrong one we go to hell right?

am I missing anything? or is this pretty much how it is right?

Oh I know that you will point to scriptures that indicate being hated is a sign of your correctness. But are you even remotely willing to take a serious gut check into your ego's need for being a victim. The old us against the World thing. Has it ever occurred to you that behind all the rationalization stands your individual ego and your group ego. Why does the truth of your inflated ego escape the light of its keeping you seperate even from Jehovah?

Whenever you are angry, you can be sure that you have formed a special relationship which the ego has "blessed" for anger is it's blessing. Anger takes many forms, but it cannot long deceive those who will learn that love brings no guilt at all, and what brings guilt cannot be love and must be anger. All anger is nothing more than an attempt to make someone feel guilty, and this attempt is the only basis the ego accepts for special relationships.
