For example I have seen several christians suggest out here that jesus was just a rabbi who was crucified but the rest of his "miracles" are just mythology that must be taken on faith . Would this still constitue a "historical jesus"?

Marcus Borg says that myth is "more than true" One of his quotes is along the line of metaphorical narratives can be profoundly true, even though not literally factual

It takes a lot of myth-stuffing before a person is no longer historical. But if the history is boring, believe the myth! It's more exciting that way.
