in order to get into heaven, you have to follow the ten commandments AND believe in god right?
and the only proof or anything that even comes close to it is the bible right?
and the bible could easily have been altered or edited at any point in time right?
and that is assuming it was really the word of god right?
and that is assuming it was translated well into english since it was originally written in hebrew right?
and to top it off we arent supposed to take it literally right?
and it doesnt say what is supposed to be taken literally and whats to be taken figuratively right?
so therefore there arent really any facts right? or at least they cant be proven?
and every other religious book claims to be the right one doesnt it?
and if we choose the wrong one we go to hell right?
am I missing anything? or is this pretty much how it is right?

sorry for saying "right" at the end of every question but whatever, too late to change it now.

christy, then what other proof is there? so I am supposed to take it literally?(so a virgin did give birth, a snake spoke, and a piece of water split in two, and we came from dirt?) and how do we know its the holy spirit? and then who am I supposed to speak to for the facts and how do I know he/she is the right one to ask? and so then how do I know how god will judge me?

You forgot the part about how a sadistic, immoral, killer God who drowned, plagued, and slaughtered millions (more than Hitler), conspired to have his own kid brutally beaten and executed, and repeatedly COMMANDED his followers to kidnap, rape, hurt, and kill people, is 'love'.

All religions are based upon myths and superstition. While there are some good ideas about love, kindness and forgiveness scattered here and there in every religion, no one has a monopoly on the absolute truth.
Personally I don't buy the Christian version of God judging you and sending you to heaven or hell forever. They say God is loving and just. There is nothing loving and just about eternal condemnation. It amazes me that in this day, with the amount of information available, people are still trying to make sense of these ancient myths. This stuff was written in a time when they still thought the world was flat and they might even kill you if you disagreed. Arguing that your religion is the one and only way, the truth and the light is about as ridiculous as arguing that the sun revolves around the earth or that the earth is flat.
Fear, guilt and shame are powerful tools for manipulating human emotions and religion has done a damn fine job at using them to convince people to believe in what would generally be considered absolute non-sense.

If there was a Supreme Being that demanded we follow specific rules in order to avoid eternal pain and suffering, it would be the responsibility of that Supreme Being to make certain that every person on earth knew (and was capable of understanding) what those rules were. The vagueness and ambiguity that your question documents is all the proof anyone should need to know that all this mystical religious mumbo-jumbo is the creation of the (earthly) human mind and imagination.

Science does not say that. That is what scientifically illiterate Christians say that science says. You know, there is a cure for ignorance; it’s called education.

I agree. If Scripture was the only thing God had going for Him, it'd strike me as insufficient as well.
Lucky God. To crib from that book though, The heavens declare His handiwork.
Learn astronomy, astrophysics, quantum mechanics, biology, genetics, botany, geology, paleontology, and a host of others. Then, through the lens of this new knowledge, look at all this "stuff" that makes up the universe. Then learn statistics. Then compute the possibility that all this "stuff" just happened to be and to come to be as it is today, and remember your time frame is a mere 15 billion years.
Have a goodly, Godly day.

Explain what is before your eyes. We are limited in our understanding of what is and where everything came from. Scientist say before there was anything, there was nothing. Something was placed into nothing creating a big bang. The big bang created all that is now, it just took some time. We are only starting to scratch the surface of understanding all that is. It's a matter of who you place your trust, God or man.

Actually Jesus is the only way into heaven...Not following law, or doing good works or being a "good" person...Accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior is the only way. After accepting Jesus, obeying his commandments of loving and caring comes naturally.

in order to go to heaven, you must be saved and claim jesus as ur hero. and yes the bible has been altered many times, but the original version is still out there. and yes christians claim it to be the word of god, but human translates it for us all to understand. religion cant be taken to literal, because it causes us to question and let us end up doubting our religion. the bible basically instructs us on out lifes journey, as it does well i believe. there has been many times where the bible has been proven right and god does exist, and there has been times where it hasnt. so its just on ur personal terms: what is right to you? every religion claims to be right on some basic facts, but choosing a religion is based usually on your culture. what is your religion inspirational in your ordinary life.
