i am just an ordinary person, just like some of you. i have a simple life, i love my family, my friends, i believe that there is a God, i believe in Christ, and i believe that what Christ teaches are true, but in the present time, many churches who claim that they are christians have used the bible in different interpretations, i am not an upright person, i make mistakes, but i get up on my feet everytime i stumble, i just dont want to join a certain denomination because i find it hard to trust christian proclaiming preachers today. so i always ask the Lord for guidance and help me find him while im all by myself, am i considered to be a christian,?

A true Christian is a person who has put his or her faith and trust in the person of Jesus Christ and fact that He died on the cross as payment for sins and rose again on the third day to obtain victory over death and to give eternal life to all who believe in Him. John 1:12 tells us: “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” A true Christian is indeed a child of God, a part of God’s true family, and one who has been given new life in Christ. The mark of a true Christian is love for others and obedience to God’s Word (1 John 2:4; 1 John 2:10).

Hi, usually I read what others say so I don't duplicate their answers but I didn't do that this time.
You're heading in the right direction, my friend. I recall a time when I was trying to draw closer to God like you are. The good news is that the bible teaches us that those who seek him with pure intentions will find him. So I am confident that if you are not yet a Christian, you will be. But I'll come back to that.
About the "different interpretations", I find it best to learn what the original Greek and Hebrew translations meant. For example, Jesus tells us that "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Using that passage, I would then do a word study on "believe" and learned that it doesn't mean to believe in the existence of God (like I first thought). The word in original Greek actually means "to trust, put your faith in, or commit to".
So now I'll get back to becoming a Christian, if you're not already. When replacing the original Greek definition of the word "believe", what the bible really teaches us that whoever "puts their faith and trust in and commits to" Jesus Christ shall not perish but have eternal life. See, I thought, like many others do, that I only needed to believe he existed.
So the next time you have a heart to heart with God, simply confess to Him that you "put your faith and trust" in Jesus and "commit yourself" to Him so that you can have eternal life. If you're not already, you will instantly become a Christian before you begin your next sentence.
As for those various denominations and preachers, don't trip too much on them. God will deal with them individually. Your relationship with Christ is between you and him and eventually He'll lead you into fellowship with other real believers.
There's more to say but I'm sure I've reached that "way too long of an answer" stage.

Depends what you mean when you say you believe in Christ. Thomas Jefferson believed in Christ and accepted his moral teachings, but rejected all of the supernatural things about Jesus. So it depends where you stand concerning who Jesus was. Was he just a good moral teacher, but not worthy of worship nor is he in any way divine? Or was he the unique Son of God as the scriptures tell, was he appointed for the salvation of mankind? These questions would determine whether you are a Christian or just merely like Christ. Gandhi liked Christ, but he was not a Christian. Jefferson liked Christ, but he was not a Christian. You would never call a Muslim a Mohammedan or call a Jew a Mosesite, because these groups do not worship these men. But Christians worship Christ. That is what sets Christ apart from Moses and Mohammad.
Also, if you do not believe in the supernatural aspects of Jesus, then do not call him Christ. Christ was not his last name. Christ is a title meaning the anointed one, it is the Greek form of the Jewish term Messiah. You may believe in Jesus but not believe in the Christ. There is a big difference, and only you can answer whether you believe in Jesus, or believe in the Christ.

Who do you beleive Jesus is? If you say just a prophet or good man, you are not a Christian although that is not for anyone of us to say. If you say, Jesus is the son of God and is the only way to God the Father and eternal life, then you are a Christian. It's hard to find a church when you haven't gone for a while. God will ignore all your shortcummings as long as you beleive in him and try your best to follow his teachings.

if you are a follower of Christ, if you have accepted His gift of eternal life thru His sacrifice on the cross, you are a Christian. a lot of people say they believe in Christ's teachings EXCEPT where he claims to be the messiah, and says that He is 'the way, the truth, and the life'...Christianity is not ' a la carte'
