A recent questioner asked: "Chrsitians: Do you believe gay people should be allowed to have civil unions?"

One reply was: "for me it's denying gay people civil rights"

This made me think: What if I want to marry my dog, can I? After all, is it hurting anybody? If you say NO, are you not imposing your morals on me?
What if I want to marry four women at once, can I? After all, is it hurting you if I do? If you say NO, are you not imposing your morals on me?

My conclusion is that this is not a matter of "denying gay people civil rights" as the answerer said. We legislate correctness and morality all the time, which is why you cannot marry your horse. What is really happening her is the denial that marrige is between a man and a woman, and homosexuals are not denied that right - they just choose not to. They are trying to invent a new right which does not exist.

Does anybody have an opinion on this?

Okay at first i thought i was just noticing it alot but i see these numbers on clocks (when its like 2:00 in the day) on the trip meter in my car people call me at 9:11 Ive been in two different states and two seperate cars pulled out in front of me and the only number on their tag was 911. The highway I drive to school is 119. I know that 9 + 11 = 20 how old I am. And that i seem to notice it more when my ex boyfriend is around. DOes anyone have an idea of what these numbers mean?

I have looked at some of the questions in the religion and spirituality category and I have to ask as a black person. Where do people get the idea that if they are not black that they would not be welcome? Did some of you experience that? Also how many of you have gone to a predominately black church and would go back again? I just want to get a survey of some people(non-black) and their experience. The worship is awesome and the preaching is great.

Now I do not mean all people but I do mean a lot of people. I formed this point of view from my trips and stays in the south as a white truck driver. In the north the fact that the south was once a rebel union really never comes to mind. This seems to be ever-present in the minds of many southerners though. There seems to be a disliking of “Yankees” and their ways that is rampant in the south. As though they stopped being allowed to hate black people publicly so their natural racist attitudes turned towards hating the north.

I never feel very safe in the south. This inherent racism, widespread acceptance of Christianity along with its perceived laws, and often remote locations (thereby producing uncultured, small-minded citizens) make me very nervous.

Now, I don’t know what percentage of southerners my views apply to. Maybe only 1% of southerners fit this stereotype but from my very own personal experience that would be a very, very vocal 1%.

I see it all the time, homosexuality is not wrong but engaging in homosexual acts is wrong.

I say that is just more homophobic garbage.

Would you straight Christians like to be forced to not engage in sexual relations with a person you are sexually attracted to?

If these unions give a gay couple all the civil rights of marriage but do not encroach on the religious sacrament of "traditional" marriage would you be okay with this?

Is it an issue of protecting what you perceive as a traditional religious marriage? Or is it about denying gay people civil rights becaus you believe your god doesn't like gay people?
