I stopped smoking years ago through a technique that I stumbled on accidentally and afterwards found out Tony Robbins uses. Maybe you could get in touch with him. You could of course go to AA but it seems to me that that is the hard way.I can assure you that giving up smoking is tremendously more difficult than giving up drinking.Group prayer in a church may do something for you.

I used to have the same problem.I would be going over to a friends house praying all the way that he wouldn't have anything to drink when I got there, knowing that he would. It wasn't till I excepted the Lord' grace and turned my truck around that I was finally able to quit.God knows how to deliver those that are His from any situation.
2Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
Your on my prayer list, God be with you.

I was one of the lucky one, when I turned my life over to God he took all desire for alcohol from me.
but I am like you, I still have a compulsive personality.
and I will pray that God will take the desire for alcohol from you, but I will also pray that God give you the strength to resist it.
Brother, sometime we have to do whatever it takes to overcome these desires.
wishing you the best of luck, and praying for you.

I will if you like, but you have already admitted you have a problem and that puts you on the right path to recovery. Perhaps you should join a group like AA, admit your problem and the rest of the group will help you.

find the reason that drove you to it. ( child abuse?).
ask YESHUA to help you to forgive them for being jerks.
read Psalms and the book of John. don't go to hells
addresses. get rid of the reason behind the pain. many
self medicate. this world is overwhelming. having YESHUA
helps to take away unrealistic expectations.
i hope that helps and yes i will pray for you. everybody
needs to help shoulder burdens. hang-on YESHUA does
love You!!!

I went to "AA" (Alcoholics Anonymous)
If you decide to go (or Quit on your Own), then May GOD Help you in the Name of Jesus.
(GOD gave us FreeWill, if WE decide to Help OurSelves, then GOD can Help us Too!)
A Whole Town asked Jesus (GOD) to Leave, they had made up their Minds that Jesus Couldn't Help Them.
Know what Jesus did?
He Left. (so sad!)

If you want to stop, try AA. If you don't want to stop, nothing is going to help.
