What is so scary about this life being all we have? I for one find that it makes life much more precious. There are a lot of people who believe there is a better life after this one... and some of these people believe they can get there by killing people who don't believe what they believe. Most of us would agree that this is wrong, but by believing that taking one life will give you a better, everlasting life, they are devaluing life itself. Similarly, to believe that this life is worthless, just a test or what not, to our "real" lives, devalues life just the same.

There is so much more to touch on in this topic but i will leave it at this. I believe that THIS life has infinite value, simply because it is the only one we get. One shot... much like the one diamond among the miles of coal, infinitely valuable because of it's rarity.

I am trying to find spirituality within myself. I am searching for something to believe in that is more than just the beliefs itself. I was raised Catholic and am now so turned off by any Christian religion. It is all too formal to me. I don't feel it in my heart, soul and mind. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I just feel lost and don't know where to turn. Thank you. Serious, respectful answers only please.

It is the spirituality section. If you don't believe in a something spiritual or aren't religious, why are you here? Why waste your time convincing people of something that doesn't exist? If God doesn't exist and is a figment of one's imagination, why are you wasting your time even arguing.

God doesn't exist, end of story. Why are you wasting your time defending or arguing about something that doesn't exist.

Is it possible for the power of prayer to work and cease all evil?

Could praying for Satan's return to God and his ability to repent for his wrongdoing result in all evil ending and the "Garden of Even" being re-established (metaphorically speaking)?

...who is now in Hell because he didn't accept Jesus as his Lord and savior. "Love the sinner, hate the sin" are the words of a non-Christian. So why do so many Christians use this quote?

I mean no offense, but, dangit, that lady , i can almost see the electricity crackling off her perfectly manicured fingertips as she keyboards away. Sometimes, when I see her answers, I imagine a sheen of very slight perspiration on her upper lip as a locket of golden blonde hair cascades in front of one of her blue eyes, tap. tap. tappity tap tap tap. Dangit, I'll be back in five minutes......

Did the Gospel writers add the stories in of Jesus great power to heal people as proof that he was the Messiah and not some prophet. Is this true?

Pastors and youth pastors tell their following that evolution and carbon dating is wrong & from the devil?

I know it would be lying... but it would make faith so much easier, hence more people would spend eternity and heaven!

I want to get a straight answer because many fundamentalists seem to ridicule the theory. Is it because you were told it was wrong or because you would rather believe a book of fiction than scientific evidence.

the pastors say you have to pray and ask Jesus to forgive you. But if I haven't done that yet, am I a Christian? or is that part mandatory.

Just because you can't prove there is a God, doesn't mean there isn't one.

Look at it this way, you CAN'T prove there ISN'T one. When you think about how complex life is, the burden of proof is on the atheists.

What do you think?

Was it that God didn't want to do it with a girl who had original sin, or God (as Jesus) didn't want his mother to have original sin? Why did this sinless lineage start with Mary instead of Mary's mom, or just start with Jesus?

I've had long discussions with very well educated "men of the cloth" both catholic and noncatholic about the subject of literal interpretation of the bible. I find it interesting that the those at the top in the various organized christian religions believe the earth is 6 billion years old, that the bible is allegorical. Many devout priests and pastors will tell you that their congregations and flocks and parishes or what ever --simply would falter in their faith if these questions were discussed. Does it make you mad to know that many in the religious community don't think you are intellectually capable of assimilating those ideas and remaining faithful?

I just recently converted to Jediism...and already have a Master Jedi set up to teach my young Padwans the ways of the Force.

I'm in the process of converting my home into a Jedi Temple.

My question is...how do I go about requesting a tax exempt status, by the government, on my home, since it is now considered a place of worship?

All serious answers would be appreciated. If you're answers, in any way, insult the Order of the Jedi, please don't bother posting one.

Thanks....:)

your truth is not their truth, so why tell others about it and belittle other people's version of truth by saying they are wrong?

Sometimes kids don't drink the wine during the Eucharist...but some do. Why aren't the priests and parents arrested for the enabling of underage drinking?

There is a law against that...so shouldn't they have to pay the price? And no, it's not freedom of religion, because Jews can't kill sheep for sacrifices, and occultists can't kill humans, so why should they be allowed to drink?

don't know how many of you play poker, but i've been watching the WSOP on TV, and the winner this year is a born again christian. when he's in a hand, he prays like crazy to jesus, out loud, saying things like "show us the miracles, prove my faith is real, show them how great you are", things like that.
i remind you they are playing poker for 8 million dollars in cash.
there were even times that the opposing player was praying to jesus too, where both of them were praying for good poker hands so jesus could prove how great he is.

anyone else offended by this? i mean, believe what you want, gamble if you want, i don't care, but asking jesus for good cards? is that respectful?

Are we still supposed to take a wife that proved not to be a virgin back to her fathers door and stone her like the new and the old testaments ordered as commanded by God
Are we still supposed to invade other countries and take the natives of those countries as slaves and make them submit to our will like ordered by Paul presumably as sanctioned by the head honcho himself?
If all that is true and the bible isnt just silly superstition
why is it that the Iraqians are not being sold in our marketplaces as slaves?
Are we a nation of Wimps Not Actually Believing in our Christian roots?
or is Christianity just a lip service religion where you can pick and choose which commands to follow and which commands to merely philosophize about?
