I want to get a straight answer because many fundamentalists seem to ridicule the theory. Is it because you were told it was wrong or because you would rather believe a book of fiction than scientific evidence.

Most stories in the bible have come from even more ancient myths about such things as a garden of eden and a great flood. plus there is no evidence that Jesus was crucified or that he even existed.

Why is the fact we evolved from apes a book fiction. there is plenty of evidence of species linking ours right down to Neanderthals. There is fossil evidence for this. There is no fossil evidence for a great flood. I don't know about you but a book about a man being made out of clay. 800 year old men. Brothers sleeping with sisters. A woman being turned into a pillar of salt and a blood thirsty God telling a man to kill his son. that definitely sounds like a book of fiction and one that should have an 18 rating as well.

When you ask me to turn a non dog into a dog you clearly don't understand evolution. Evolution doesn't predict that. of course there are gaps in the fossil record. Not all dead animals are fossilized they have to be in certain conditions. There is evidence for connecting animals. the Homos Genus have a hole host of pre-humans leading up to Homo Sapiens. the transition can be clearly seen. Although I must point out that you will not find and half humans half apes as evolution is a gradual process. it takes time with small changes leading to big outcomes. I can admit that evolution doesn't explain the Cambrian explosion. All theories aren't perfect. they are continually being improved. Can you say that about the bible?

How can you feel to proud to have evolved? I would rather have evolved than be made from dirt. of course God made MAN first so as far as God is concerned woman are just a companion to man just as a dog. If I was a woman I would rather be equal than be inferior.

Genesis says otherwise, and they believe that the Bible is the literal word of god.

If you prove a line of the bible wrong- then the whole house of cards falls. So, whenever you question the bible- they hold their hands over their ears and hum.

Anyone with a questioning mind will be able to see the flaws in the evolution story.

You don't have to be a Christian to doubt the ridiculous notion that all living things originated from a random mix of sterile chemicals in some primordial ooze.

Apparently all that was needed to perform this miraclous feat was some random, raw, undirected energy from the sun or lightning. You may have been brainwashed to believe such nonsense by the evolutionist establishment, but just use some commonsense and examine the issue objectively.

No one can explain how DNA or RNA originated? And where the information encoded in the DNA came from, is a dilemma that evolutionists will never be able to answer. So to claim such a speculative notion as evolution from 'goo to you' is a scientific fact, is not only unscientific it is a downright abuse of science.

Anyone who truly values science is appalled by this hi-jacking of science for ideological purposes, this is not a Christian issue, it is an issue for all who care about scientific integrity.

Here is an admission by an atheist and evolutionist, the geneticist, (Professor) Richard Lewontin, that materialist ideology, rather than an objective search for truth, is the primary motivation behind his and his fellow evolutionists 'science' - - - -

QUOTE: “We take the side of science in spite of the absurdity of some of its constructs, in spite of its failure to fulfil many of its extravagant promises of health and life, in spite of the tolerance of the scientific community for unsubstantiated just so stories, because we have a commitment to materialism. It is not that the methods and institutions of science somehow compel us to accept a material explanation of the phenomena world, on the contrary, we are forced by our a priori adherence to material causes to create an apparatus of investigation and a set of concepts that produce material explanations, no matter how counter-intuitive, no matter how mystifying to the uninitiated. Moreover, that materialism is an absolute, for we cannot allow a divine foot in the door.” Richard Lewontin, “Billions and Billions of Demons”, New York Review, January, 1997 at p.31.

Edit - - - Elizabeth L
Forget about wanting to read any rants by the god squad, just read the quote above from one of the Darwinian squad instead. If you still trust the ideologically motivated 'science' of the evolutionists after reading this unusually frank admission by an evolutionist, then I'm afraid you're just a gullible fool. If you really value science then, like me, you will deplore the abuse of science to support an ideological agenda.

Well, it's because the scientific evidence actually denies evolution, and supports the idea that the Earth is young and that there was a worldwide Flood. If you want a really good read, you should check out "The Evolution Cruncher" by Vance Ferrell. It contains thousands of scientific facts, as well as quotes from famous evolutionists themselves, admitting that evolution is a "fairy tale for grownups" and has no real scientific backing.
If you still really believe that evolution is a "fact", then I would suggest trying this experiment:

In the lab, demonstrate, using the SCIENTIFIC METHOD ONLY, how a dog can either produce or come from a non-dog ("dog" here being defined as any member of the "canis" family). Your results must be repeatable and falsifiable.

Can't do it? THEN IT'S NOT SCIENCE. IT'S A BELIEF!

I reject evolution because it is not the best explanation. It fails to provide a satisfactory mechanism for major transitions. It predicts a fossil record full of intermediaries which are clearly not present. It fails to give good explanations for major phenomena such as the Cambrian explosion Exobioloy has failed to explain the origins of life, those who work in this field will admit most of their work is conjecture based on little evidence. Granted it does have a good deal of explanitory power, but it fails to agree with most of the evidence. The reason it is widely accepted in the scientific community today is because it is the best naturalistic explanation, and many feel the need to say that naturalism is all there is.

Why are you generalising?

A small part of the Christian community believe that Chapter 1 of Genesis is a literal account of how the Universe came about. You believe that a different book is the literal truth. Neither they nor you have the first hand experience necessary to tell.

The overwhelming majority of Christians are quite open to the idea of evolution. Darwin was a Christian.

The first chapter of Genesis represents the state of scientific knowledge from about 2,200 years ago. It was revolutionary at the time and replaced the simpler account of creation given in chapter 2 - written about 500 years earlier.

Darwin represents scientific knowledge of the 19th century. There have been considerable advances since then and his theories on evolution are old hat.

In a hundred years time, people will be ridiculing both.

I think you must be in America. I know there are lot of fundamental so called christians over there that are creationists even though it is clearly just a story. However I think most Christains in the world accept that evolution has happened. How it has happened and of course still happening is something that most universities in the world are still working on

Simply answer is because they have been conditioned to never question their religion and never question the bible.
Some of those who answered how evolution is wrong clear shows you that they are very close-minded individuals who are not able to think for themselves.
That is the problem, religion discourages any form of independent thoughts and free thinking; hence the reason why they are against science and evolution.

Christians are against evolution as it contradicts common sense , no only what the Bible teaches. Since life can only come from life, how could evolution had started, and why is it not continuing?

Fundamentalists are not Christians. Christians tell non-Christians one thing, and one thing only, and that is that Jesus Christ died for the sins of the world. People who accept that personally are Christians, and it does not matter tuppence what they believe about how God created the universe.

Fundamentalists try to get people to believe with their minds, not with their 'hearts' and wills, which is worse than useless. Their leaders are very, very evil people. They prove that with the ridiculous lies they tell about science and the Bible.

Probably most Christians today accept evolution, but it really doesn't matter if they don't unless they are scientists. All that matters is faith expressing itself in practical love.
