Sometimes kids don't drink the wine during the Eucharist...but some do. Why aren't the priests and parents arrested for the enabling of underage drinking?
There is a law against that...so shouldn't they have to pay the price? And no, it's not freedom of religion, because Jews can't kill sheep for sacrifices, and occultists can't kill humans, so why should they be allowed to drink?

I am shocked at the stupid answers you've gotten so far. Yes they do serve WINE more often than these churches serve grape juice. You do NOT need a liquor license to serve alcohol at Religious Ceremonies (Damn, doesn't anyone look this stuff up?). And Christianity does tell you what you can and can not do - you can't buy liquor on Sundays because of Christianity (notice I said Liquor... you can buy Wine and Beer - the Catholics & Baptists wouldn't have it any other way lol). And this is only one instance in which Christianity is in our (American) society as a whole. Granted, it is only a sip, but you still have a point. It is against the law to give children alcohol... it doesn't matter if it's just a sip. They aren't arrested because they use the "Freedom of Religion" to cover for it... meanwhile they're telling everyone else that "Christianity isn't a Religion... it's a Relationship". Talk about double-talk!

Of course kids drink the wine, and in the Eastern rites of the Catholic Church, first communion happens along with confirmation in the first 40 days of life along with baptism.
Religious use of wine was even allowed during Prohibition. In fact, almost the only people who could get wine were Catholic priests.
Religious use of wine has very old precedents in common law. It is not considered underage consumption of wine since they are consuming the body and blood of Christ. Had the underage drinking interpretation been adopted you would see an outright revolution, particularly during prohibition.
Also, it is likely the state laws do exempt religious usage. I would be surprised to find a statute that did not.

First off, Catholics aren't the only Christian group to use wine during Sunday services. Secondly, we eat sheep all the time, so I assume that Jews could sacrifice sheep if they wanted to; what makes you think they can't? And if you really want to equate a child taking a sip of weak red wine to human sacrifice, which by the way, there has never been one conclusively proven case of human sacrifice in the U.S. in modern history ever, well I guess I should be executed because I was drinking before I turned 21...

Seems to be some confusion here.
A) The Catholic Church serves the Body and Blood of Christ, as per His instructions, to every Catholic who has had their First Holy Communion, which usually means over the age of 7.
B) The Catholic priest consecrates the bread ( a wafer made of wheat flour, salt and water) and the wine (REAL wine) and gives the consecrated Body and Blood to each Catholic who comes to the altar to partake.
C) ALL Catholic Churches use REAL wine because that is what Jesus used at the Last Supper when He told us to eat His flesh (holding the bread) and drink His blood (holding the cup of wine). We Catholics tend to do what He tells us to do.
D) Even during Prohibition, this was the allowed practice.

I don't know of any Catholic churches in the US that allow the kids to drink the wine. Where does this happen?
Now - when I was a kid - one Sunday I didn't go to church - but instead went into the church kitchen with some little girlfriends - and we found the wine in the fridge (cheap screw top stuff) - and we passed it around and drank it. We found the big hosts that the priest eats too - in the freezer - and we tried one.
Nobody will have to go to jail over that. For a long time - I thought I would go to hell for it - because I couldn't confess it - 'cause thought the priest would be really angry.
But now - I don't believe in hell. So all is well!
Namaste!!

jewish people don't sacrifice animals anymore, not since the year 70. they do use wine, and give
there was a case recently of a santeria priest getting in trouble for killing a chicken and trying to get out of it by saying it was freedom of religion. don't know how it turned out.
but in the case of alcohol, it's a question of intent. if the parent is negligent by leaving open the liquor cabinet, that's one thing. but a few drops of wine for religious reasons? that's not a crime, there are bigger fish to fry.

Yeeeessss! Let us persecute them all! Let's get a mob together and arrest them all!
You know, if we non-Christians expect Christians to be civil, we should lead by example. The use of wine in the ceremony of the Eucharist is harmless. Underage drinking is a concept that doesn't even exist everywhere. It's part of our American Puritanical legacy. If you knew anything about the ceremony, you'd know that you only get a sip, anyway. It's not like they're downing whole glasses.
I don't want psycho zealot Christians telling me what I can and cannot do according to their religious beliefs. By the same token, I'm not going to mess with Christian church rituals.

what about basic sanitation. everyone drinks from the same glass. if there is an epidemic, the catholics would contract it the fastest. I find it disgusting actually, i only drink from my wife or kids glass. you have no idea if another catholic even brushed that morning. makes me want to throw up everytime i see it.

It's the priests drinking in the back room during the week, and then driving that is the real danger.
