Or do you reckon he'll think....hmmm...I didn't get it right the first time, what with all them sinners and non-believers I created last time.
Or do you expect him to wander about up in heaven chatting to his flock...like some venerable party host at a party that never ends?
And do you think he'll wear sandals with or without socks?

I'm trying to be light-hearted, but I would be interested to hear what you think it'd be like!!

After declaring Jesus to be the Lamb of God and baptizing Him, why would John the Baptist while he was in prison ask the following question? Matthew 11:2-3 - "Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, and said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?"

Proverbs 1

Warning Against Rejecting Wisdom
20 Wisdom calls aloud in the street,
she raises her voice in the public squares;
21 at the head of the noisy streets [c] she cries out,
in the gateways of the city she makes her speech:

22 "How long will you simple ones [d] love your simple ways?
How long will mockers delight in mockery
and fools hate knowledge?

23 If you had responded to my rebuke,
I would have poured out my heart to you
and made my thoughts known to you.

24 But since you rejected me when I called
and no one gave heed when I stretched out my hand,

25 since you ignored all my advice
and would not accept my rebuke,

26 I in turn will laugh at your disaster;
I will mock when calamity overtakes you-

27 when calamity overtakes you like a storm,
when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind,
when distress and trouble overwhelm you

Out of the mouths of God's kids

A small boy told a Sunday school teacher: "When you die, God takes care of you like your parents did when you were alive — only God doesn't yell at you all the time."

Anyone have any funny stories of kids in church?

Why is it that the only people asking and answering questions seem to be either born again christians or catholics? Where are all the Muslims, Jews, Hindus, etc...? It seems that the followers of Jesus are the only ones with a ton of free time on their hands.

I know it's rocky in R&S, but someone just wrote to advise me to get rid of my "fan" section because of the stalkers and such. I did this.
Did I do the right thing?
Should I still accept people who want to be contacts?
Is accepting new fans and contacts really that dangerous?

In a previous question of mine only two Christians bothered to answer, and their answers had nothing to do with the question.

Most of you Christians choose to answer questions that really don't force you to think and where you can paste answers you found from some bogus Christian site, e.g. a question about evolution.
I've seen Christians do this for other questions, not just my own.
If you're really secure in your beliefs why do you avoid tough questions and use deflections?

My collection's a work-in-progress, but I've got at my apt: 4 different versions of the Bible, 2 Qur'ans, a Satanic bible, Dianetics, one of the Tipitaka collections, a Book of Mormon, a Holy Piby (if that qualifies), the Book of the SubGenius, the Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and parts of the Avesta.

No selfish reasons of course.

There are plenty of reason to do something, but what are your reasons not to do something that is not considered selfish or self absorbing.

The cross with a circle is not a Catholic symbol - it is a pagan symbol denoting the zodiac. Do you think imacatholic2 has any idea where he's plagiarizing from?

Does anyone know a Catholic saint for stillborn babies, the death of a baby, or the death of a brother/sibling? I would prefer that they be female, but anything is appreciated.

Atheists 1st claim there is no evidence for creation. Then when you give them evidence they say the evidence is biased. There is no such thing as unbiased humans since every human has emotions. Do atheists stop watching big media news since they are liberal biased?

If they are truly in the pursuit of truth they will test the evidence or examine it themselves. Didn't science once say the world was flat and pseudo science say it was round? Just because a science is not accepted by the majority doesn't make it automaticly error.

When I found out the catholic church was withholding truth I left the catholic church, but that doesn't mean I reject everything the catholic church says. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

As a christian I have decided I will not pigeon hole my beliefs to one denomination, but I look for truth in every denomination.

Psalm 2 (New International Version)

Psalm 2
1 Why do the nations conspire
and the peoples plot in vain?

2 The kings of the earth take their stand
and the rulers gather together
against the LORD
and against his Anointed One. [b]

3 "Let us break their chains," they say,
"and throw off their fetters."

4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
the Lord scoffs at them.

5 Then he rebukes them in his anger
and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,

6 "I have installed my King [c]
on Zion, my holy hill."

7 I will proclaim the decree of the LORD :
He said to me, "You are my Son [d] ;
today I have become your Father. [e]

8 Ask of me,
and I will make the nations your inheritance,
the ends of the earth your possession.

9 You will rule them with an iron scepter [f] ;
you will dash them to pieces like pottery

Following my question the other day, I asked: "Why do Christians feel that they are so sure that they are getting into Heaven?" and the recurring answer I kept getting was: "You only have to believe in God and Jesus to be accepted into Heaven"

Hang on....... Does that mean that Adolf Hitler is in Heaven? He was a Christian. What about all these serial killers that have believed in god? Are they there too? The KKK was a Christian organization, have all the former Klan members gone to Heaven?

If that is what Heaven is like, it doesn't sound like a very nice place.

There is only one link that seperates us from them. Just because they are evolutionary challenged, why should they have less rights as the rest of us. Or do they have the same rights? Can our cousins vote, and can they find fair legal representation? If on a safari, someone accidentially hits and kills one of our cousins. Is the unfortunately victim considered road kill, or can murder charges be brought up against the driver?

In some parts of the world our cousins are allowed to roam free, why not here in the US?

This is kind of of an odd question but I was wondering if God acts this way.
If I asked for something that I needed would God say,"I will only give that to you if you quit doing a certain sin"
Like if I asked for a new job but God says,"I will do that for you if you just quit lying."

that some people who believe in a god or gods (perticularly Christians) used to be Atheist?

I see many Atheists on this forum not accecpting the possibility that it could be true.

Do people of faith not accecpt that many Atheists used to have a faith?

For the Atheists who doubt, what is your reasoning behind your doubt?

My favorite is the pamphlet by Dr. Haegler that tried to be scientific about why we should all go to church on Sunday and refrain from work and fun. He said that during a day's work a laborer expends more oxygen than he can inhale and that we need a day like Sunday to catch up...what better way to do that than spend it in church?

If so, then why do you think God would want people to know him through faith instead of through plain observation or science?

It seems to be a consensus among theists that God wants people to know him and worship him. But wouldn't that be a lot easier if you could just see God in plain sight, visit him where he lives or demonstrate his existence with a simple experiment? By making faith the way through which people know him, God would alienate those who don't think faith is a reliable path to truth, and why would God want to do that?
