Much of the time it's simply lashing out at people who are mean to them.

Yea....we aren't supposed to do that, but many people don't stop till someone blows their top.

Still human you know...........but forgiven humans

The question is "Who is in control?" Christians are constantly fighting their natural human traits so that the Holy Spirit can control them. Sometimes they lose to their sin nature and sometimes the Holy Spirit wins out. Until we are changed into our spiritual bodies, we will have this war within. Being Christ-like is a process and until Jesus comes to take us home, we will never be through changing for the better. When you're confronted with hatred by a self-proclaimed Christian......call them on it. Remind them of the love of Christ and His example. See what happens.

Pride gets in the way doesn't it? Anyone who truly has the Holy Spirit in them doesn't have to advertize it. The Presence will be apparent.

Probably because they sin in others the sin they are dealing with in themselves. It's a mirror effect. The measure they judge is the measure they are judged by. So, they hate their sin, but cannot change themselves because of it, so that hate then goes to others.

The more interesting question would be, why are so many people quick to accuse others of being hateful?

Christians are just people like you. And Christians are under construction - just like you. We all have to learn to Pull on the Power and ask God to teach us humility and grace. As we mature in Christ, and learn to walk in His steps, and strive for the mind of God, we become more loving and compassionate. Pray for the one who has disappointed you, he/she needs it. But don't judge them. Life is hard and we're all trying to get through it peacefully.

>Despite the claims... >Christians cannot "condemn" anyone to hell. Many of them sure try. They also like to use veiled threats about that mythical place. >Christians cannot "push our faith" on anyone. Yes, they can, and many often do. Have you ever been in a public place and had to sit through a prayer that ended with, "In Jesus' name we pray"? Well, that's an example of Christianity being pushed on others. Have you attending a public school's "Christmas concert"? Then your faith was being pushed on others. >Christians aren't the ones trying to change the laws in this >country. It's non-Christians that are trying to do away with >moral laws adhered to for centuries in the U.S. and >elsewhere. To which "moral laws" are you referring? And upon whose morals are those laws based? In the United States of America, we must uphold the Constitution, not laws of a particular faith or faiths over all others. >Despite the claims, the term Christian isn't synonymous >with hypocrite and bigot. True. It's also not synonymous with "good," "right," or "moral." >Despite the claims, one must open their heart as well as >their mind to the truth of God's word Ah.. here's another one. Christianity and the Bible are not synonymous with "the truth of G-d's word." >and most of us believed what most of you believe before > we accepted Christ, I sincerely doubt that. Most of you have always been Christian, you were raised as Christian, and chose to be Christians as adults. When did you believe in the myriad of other faiths which exist on this planet? >so we're the ones who are open-minded, not visa-versa. Not so much. >Despite the claims, there are very few hateful responses > here by Christians, but LOTS from those who believe in > something else, or nothing. There does seem to be a lot of hateful responses in all sorts of directions on Yahoo! Answers. I've been posting on various online message boards since 1993. By and large, the most hateful posts are done by those Christians who just want everyone to talk about or accept Christianity. People of other faiths, or no faith, have no problem discussing various religious beliefs without expecting everyone else to drop their own beliefs in favor of ours. Your whole "we're more open-minded than you are" statement pretty much bore that out. If you are so "open minded," would you mind discussing other views about Jesus, or would you expect us only to follow what is written in the KJV? >So why all the false claims against Christians? Past experience tends to make non-Christians wary, if not downright belligerent. We can only be told we'll go to hell if we don't accept Jesus so many times before we lash out. Try walking in our shoes sometime. Or is it asking you too much to follow your own god's dictate to love others? >Do those making these claims realize you are doing the >same thing to Christians today that people did to Jesus >and His disciples and that you're actually fulfilling >prophecy by doing so? Of course your prophecies are being fulfilled... realizing they were a minority faith (at the time), the writers of the New Testament warned that others would dislike Christians. Well, if you push Jesus upon all others, all the time, you'll earn that dislike. However, if you take the time to actually LIVE your faith, rather than blather on about it, you'll earn respect. Why is that such a difficult concept for some Christians, such as yourself?

How are they hateful? Do they send nasty grams like the one I got?
Ignore them.

The Holy Spirit is not in them.

It speaks rather softly.

In what way? Describe please.
We are to "hate evil" and cling to what is Good" according to the scriptures. Romans 12
9Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
