I believe in God, and believe that his son Jesus died on the cross for our sins and more importantly rose on the third day. I know this because of the word of God which is a living proof. I pray that all of you who answer this receive a blessing from the LORD.

How this fire affects the souls of the departed the Doctors do not know, and in such matters it is well to heed the warning of the Council of Trent when it commands the bishops "to exclude from their preaching difficult and subtle questions which tend not to edification', and from the discussion of which there is no increase either in piety or devotion" (Sess. XXV, "De Purgatorio")."

Vatican Still Refuses To Open Holocaust Records To Jewish Scholars

Pope Pius IX on December 8, 1864 issued an encyclical letter Quanta Cura, containing the Syllabus Errorum, in which he condemned freedom of conscience as “an insane folly” and freedom of the press as “a pestiferous error, which cannot be sufficiently detested.”
DAVE HUNT, A WOMAN RIDES THE BEAST, p. 55 (1994), quoting J.H. IGNAZ VONDOLLINGER, THE POPE AND THE COUNCIL, p. 21 (London 1869).

In the Syllabus Errorum Pope Pius stated: “No man is free to embrace and profess that religion which he believes to be true, guided by the light of reason.”
JOHN W. ROBBINS, ECCLESIASTICAL MEGALOMANIA, p. 143 (1999).

Pope Gregory XVI (1831-46) viewed freedom of conscience and the press as absurd and mad concepts, not only within the church but in society as a whole.
DAVE HUNT, A WOMAN RIDES THE BEAST, p. 123 (1994).

Isn't it perfectly okay to be rich as long as you're a good steward of your wealth? Does the Bible teach that its wrong to be rich or that if you are rich you'll have any harder a time finding salvation? If so, where are these teachings found?

God would never kill someone because he is a homo or because he follows a different religion. Does that mean that Westboro Baptist Church (Kansas) is the Devil?

Really? How come that decent intelligent people genuinely believe so. How come that the very religion I was raised in must be wrong. Come on, how can you look at Sumerian tablets and continue to maintain that these guys did not exist because "our" god couldn't possibly be around then. And they could WRITE, they actually invented the bloody thing about 10.000 years ago. Carve in stone, for that matter. Makes you think.

Think about it. Some of the passages in the bible that say things like homosexuality is a sin and if you try to contact the spirits you will go to hell. Could satan have sent over evil agents to make the bible its evil tool against civilization?

atheists often have a smart@ss attitude on Y!A?

They can be demeaning of other religions referring to God as a sky creature or some other randome nickname; and that they are so superior to be "free thinkers."

Why can't you be respectful? I hate to clump you guys together becuz there are some sincere atheists (probly most of you) but for the ones that aren't...u really are ruining the perception of atheism and aughta be ashamed of ur insincerity and "im smarter than you and ur fiction" personality.

Peace.

Do these texts show that Jesus had the same God as his followers. If not than was he talking to himself? If so than does that show Jesus is not God

Mark 15:34 “34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?””

John 20 :17 “Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.”

I know this is sort of in the wrong area but I posted this question in the writing area and no one responded.

Besides, I want my book to have a religious theme anyways so I suppose it does fit.

For those of you who don't know, Nanowrimo is National Novel Writing Month where the participants try to write a 50 000 word novel in 1 month (the month of November).

The problem is, I need a little bit of help with some story ideas. Not a full plot or anything, just a tiny little detail that might be interesting to work in.

Now, I've heard that the Christian OT is the Jewish Bible...or Torah, now...most of the "bad stuff" that happens with God is in the OT, you know, the stuff that Chirstians say no longer applies to them...so, I was wondering...with no ill intent to the ones being asked this...but do Jews still have to make animal sacrifices, marry the man who rapes you, and then have to pay money to the father? Just to name a few. Because by the way some Christians put it, you guys have to...if the OT is your Bible, maybe I was misinformed but...what do you have to say about that? Let the bloodbath begin...^_^
