It's not so much that its against our religion....
It goes against God's definite instructions
regarding the use to which blood may be put.
What do u mean "artificial" blood products?
There are enough other safer products to use.
In case of large amount of loss of blood;
the Priority is to Increase that is; Expand the Volume.
It does Not Have to Be blood.
Anyways, some decisions are up to the individual person,
there are other factors to take under consideration as well.
Example:
Each person has their own unique medical history.
While 1 person may be able to use or have
a certain medicine or med., procedure;
while another person certainly cannot have the same
medicine or procedure.
So, than you move to another avenue...
medicine or procedure.
Both my dghtr's have a rare blood type; Rh neg.
If the wrong blood were given to them it Would Kill her.
Period.
Only 5% of the world pop., has this blood type.
After the doctor told us her blood type,
(?end of 04 / begin.,05?)
I went on-line to learn all I could about it.
You know how they say "type & cross-match"?
Type: we all know, what that is.
Cross-match: Is where they put her blood & the donor blood
in a petrie dish, scratch / stir
that is mix the blood;
and wait..... (I forget.. 10 mins?)
then they check it
to see if the donor blood,
is killing the red blood cells of my dghtr.
Kill Her.
Her doctor didn't use blood, needless to say.
It is Not for Everybody.
Religious Tenet or Not.
And it was in her paper work: J's W.

The refusal to take blood transfusions is not based upon the efficacy or convenience of alternative treatments or the risks of unsafe blood. We simply object to taking the blood of another human into our bodies because the Scriptures command Christians to "abstain from blood." So, that is not something that we are willing to negotiate even if it is considered to be the only treatment available.
As far as the use of the ever-growing number of treatments using blood derivatives and blood fractions and so forth, the Watchtower has wisely tried to avoid the Pharisaic pitfall of determining for Jehovah's Witnesses the acceptability of every new treatment that may involve the use of a blood derivative.
The Pharisees of Jesus' day, if you recall, felt compelled to make rulings on the minutest matters of the Law. For instance, they made hundreds of rules that defined exactly what a person could and could not do on the Sabbath. It has been said that the Pharisees ruled that merely swatting a fly on the Sabbath constituted "work" and so was illegal. The point is that the Sabbath was originally a law from God but men lost sight of the intent of the Law.
So it is with blood transfusions

Blood is viewed by our Creator as representing life and therefore sacred.
When there is severe and rapid blood lose,besides stopping the bleeding one must replace the fluid volume.Or the person's blood pressure drops and they go into shock.
There are many non blood volume expanders that can and are used such as saline solution.
Jehovahs Witnesses do not have a death wish.They enjoy life and want to keep on living.However they also obey their Creator,Jehovah God who commands his followers to 'abstain from blood'.
Jehovahs Witnesses have complete trust in Jehovah God and in His promise of a resurrection from the dead.So as long as we remain obedient and loyal we cant loose!

We do not store our own blood, if it has stopped it's circulation, then it's the same as any other blood. There are many things that do not involve blood that can be done to help a person in need. Hemodilution for one. Blood expanders, etc. We seek the best care possible when our lives are involved, because our lives are a gift from Jehovah and we place much value on them.

There is such a thing as artificial blood. At least two hemoglobin solutions (like HemoPure (R) and PolyHeme (R)) are on the market. They are highly purified oxygen-carrying hemoglobin solutions made from fractionated bovine (cow) blood. A medical writer for the Sacramento Bee said that Gregory Brown, a JW Hospital Liaison Cmt. Rep. approved use of one such product for patient Jose Orduno in September 2000.
In the 15 June 2000 Watchtower, JWs were told that they could now accept 'fractions of any of the primary components' of blood. Imagine - if that comment had not been published in the Watchtower till October 2000, Mr Orduno would have died.
It is absurd for JWs to insist (as they do) that accepting red cells, white cells, platelets and plasma breaks God's law on blood. They accept everything INSIDE of these components (97%) as long as they are fractionated! Even the membrane is allowed as a fraction. So technically the Wt.Soc permits 100% of blood in fractionated form.
A red blood cell is a miniature bag of hemoglobin. Broken down by dry weight, the red cell is 97% hemoglobin and 3% membrane. To permit hemoglobin yet to ban red cells is like telling someone, 'You can drink the milk out of that plastic jug, but if you take the plastic jug with the milk inside it, you'll be in deep trouble.'

It's in every ones Bible so all would be wise to read the below scriptures. We will use any Bible translation to reveal the truth.
Acts 15:20 but that we write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality,[a]from things strangled, and from blood.
Acts 15:29 that you abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality.[a] If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well.
Acts 21:25 But concerning the Gentiles who believe, we have written and decided that they should observe no such thing, except [a] that they should keep themselves from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality.”

If it is artificial I guess it's OK. Also, I read somewhere that it is possible (in elective surgery, for example, as opposed to emergency) to have their own blood saved and stored in advance and returned to them during an operation. Ideal if the opportunity is there - no worries about cross-contaminaton or blood-group matching.

No, as long as these products don't contain plasma, platelets, or red/white cells.
