I'm reading some conflicting reports about DNA matches on the net. Please provide a link, if you can...

I ask this in R&S because there are so many who believe in creationism versus the common ancestor debate presented in Evolution... Check my R&S profile... I'm an atheist.

According to this article, both bonobos (pygmie chimpanzees) and chimps are equally close genetically to humans. Interestingly, bonobos display more human characteristics, such as a more upright posture, and engaging in face-to-face sex.

Common chimpanzees and bonoboes are equally close.
The chimpanzee line diverged into these two living species after it diverged from the human line.
Conflicting reports of DNA matching come from different ways of calculating a match. It depends if you are talking about a one to one correlation of nucleic acid bases or if you are talking about the overall number of mutations that separate each of us from the common ancestor.
Whichever method you choose, chimps and bonoboes are closest to humans, followed in order by gorillas, orang utans, other apes such as gibbons, old world monkeys, other primates, other mammals, other vertebrates, other chordates, other animals, other eukaryotes, back down to the common origin of life.

Some might say George W. Bush but it is actually the two species of Chimpanzee. Bonobos are just as close as the other Chimp species. As the split between the two is fairly recent. Despite widespread belief and significant photographic evidence George W. Bush does not belong to a third species of Chimpanzee.

Why are you asking this in the R&S section, and not the biology section? (EDIT: OK, but I still don't see why that makes it appropriate to post here.)
Oh well, I'll play along. It depends on what, exactly you mean by "closest genetically". There are different ways of calculating a percentage of "similarity". There's no doubt though that you see much, much more similarity between human and chimp DNA than human and fly DNA. Both chimps and bonobos seem to be equally "close". To make an analogy here, it's like comparing yourself to two cousins who are siblings (from your same aunt/uncle). They are equally "related" from a hierarchical sense, though maybe you resemble one of them a little more in some minor ways.

Genetically it is the ape family but heart valves have been harvested from pigs and implanted successfully into humans.
We have not done the same with chimps so it makes me wonder about the genetic similarities.

While it's true that humans and chimpanzees share approximately 95% of the same genetic traits, humans and pirates actually share 99.9%.
