atheists often have a smart@ss attitude on Y!A?

They can be demeaning of other religions referring to God as a sky creature or some other randome nickname; and that they are so superior to be "free thinkers."

Why can't you be respectful? I hate to clump you guys together becuz there are some sincere atheists (probly most of you) but for the ones that aren't...u really are ruining the perception of atheism and aughta be ashamed of ur insincerity and "im smarter than you and ur fiction" personality.

Peace.

even nonetheless, that's surprisingly offensive so which you will assert this. it quite works the two techniques. some Christians smash it for those people who're frequent and who only go with to stay in peace and worship God quietly. we don't evangelize. We manage others as we'd go with to be dealt with. They smash the concept of Christianity. in step with threat that's the reason some atheists ridicule us and dislike us so. they have had all they could take of the preaching and "i'm so holy" approach they get from some Christians. All i'm asserting is that it quite works the two techniques. reason: some Christians carry forth and rant to atheists. result: Atheists get bored stiff and retaliate. Now there are some atheists who hate us all and practice no appreciate. They experience that because of the fact we've self belief, we are idiots who deserve no appreciate. it rather is gloomy. maximum all human beings is cool human beings. they're lacking out via being prejudiced against us from the start.

However, it is pretty offensive for you to say this.
It works both ways. Some Christians ruin it for those of us who are normal and who just want to live in peace and worship God quietly. We don't evangelize. We treat others as we want to be treated.

They ruin the perception of Christianity. Perhaps THAT is why some atheists ridicule us and dislike us so.
They have had all they can take of the preaching and "I am so holy" attitude they get from A FEW Christians.

All I am saying is that it works both ways.

Cause:
Some Christians preach and rant to atheists.

Effect:

Atheists get fed up and retaliate.

Now there are some atheists who hate us all and show no respect. They feel that because we believe, we are idiots who deserve no respect. That is sad. Most of us are cool people. They are missing out by being prejudiced against us from the beginning.

I agree with you there. Being rude is not a sign of intelligence. And being meek and respectful, is not a sign of weakness.

Just as believing in a religion is not a sign of gullibility. And not believing in anything is not a sign of free thinking. As a matter of fact, some would say not believing in anything is one of the easiest ways of living, since it does keep you from thinking.

It's also funny how they can't take responcibility for themselves. "Well if you didn't believe this or that, then I wouldn't make fun of you..." Why is my belief a condition on your conduct? They're basically saying it's my fault they can't be civil. How foolish is that? If athiests want to believe they're in control of their lives, then they first need to control themselves, and not let other people's beliefs force them into bad manners. It only shows that they are in control of nothing. They neither freely think nor freely act. But allow what others think and feel to control them. This is why I am not an athiest.

They always say "It's what I believe, so there. You have a problem, then too bad." Well, if it's too bad I have a problem with what you believe, why is it alright that you have a problem with what I believe.

It just goes to show how different the world's way of thinking is to the ways of God.

Amen, I have noticed that quite a few atheist get stuck on scriptures. I am non religious but believe in God, so what do these "Scripture Fanatics" think of me? I don't understand why someone claiming to be a "free thinker" and "open minded" would repetitively assault the concept of a higher power using solely scriptures and never touching on spirituality or other "Divine" concepts. I also agree that it is only a small percentage of the atheists here.

Peace as well:)

Usually the responses like this are in answer to some question along the lines of, "It says in the Bible that God is real, when are you Athiests (sic) going to repent and BELIEVE THE TRUTH!!!!!!"

That is not an intelligent well thought out question, and it directly implies we are somehow not educated enough to understand the words written in the bible. We get these all the time.

So, stupid questions demand stupid answers. If intelligent discourse is being sought, then questions should be asked in an intelligent manner and facts based on more than one source. No atheist I know has based their beliefs on one book, or one source, most of us have studied multiple religions and dozens, if not hundreds/thousands, of texts.

Peace back at ya'

I am only disrespectful, or call your belief a fairy tail, if 1, someone is disrespectful of atheist first, 2, If you ask my opinion. You may think my opinion of god being a fairytale is disrespectful, but it is my opinion.
As to the rest, I know a lot of people are smarter then me, And I bet quite a few of them are Christians, and I certainly don't think I'm superior to anyone.

One more thing, Really read the posts with a critical eye, Christians are much more hateful in what they say to atheist, then atheists are to Christians.

I doubt people worry about the perception of atheism because the perception was never allowed to come from us in the first place...it's always come from what religion tells it's followers to believe about us.

I agree, im a christian, and usually i see alot of hateful answers towards christians. Most of the times its because they say that we shove religion down there throat, i dont, its up to you what you want to believe in life. We all have our own beliefs and they think they are superior becuase they think we are immature for believing in something they think is not true, fictional.

I feel the same way about Christians, particularly the Christians who were saying that it didn't matter that Buddhist monks were being killed in Myanmar because they were going to Hell anyways.
BTW- I stick up for anyone whose religious or philosophical beliefs I feel are being slandered- no matter what those beliefs are.

That's also what some theists do. When I tell someone that I am an atheist they look at me like 'poor soul. such an idiot. and going to hell' Why can't people accept when others disagree with them?
