I know this is sort of in the wrong area but I posted this question in the writing area and no one responded.

Besides, I want my book to have a religious theme anyways so I suppose it does fit.

For those of you who don't know, Nanowrimo is National Novel Writing Month where the participants try to write a 50 000 word novel in 1 month (the month of November).

The problem is, I need a little bit of help with some story ideas. Not a full plot or anything, just a tiny little detail that might be interesting to work in.

Start with a character or two. Get to know them really well. They should be as complex as your friends are. Then decide what the character wants. Put him/her in a situation where the goal is being frustrated.

Important: The central problem of a story is not the situation, but the character's relation to the situation.

How about a forgiveness story?

Since it is November, why not write about Thanksgiving..or write a novel about all the different Christian celebrations You could cover Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas......they way they used to be celebrated and how secular they have become. Even atheists celebrate the Christian Holidays now. I can see you getting 50,000 words on this.
