No selfish reasons of course.

There are plenty of reason to do something, but what are your reasons not to do something that is not considered selfish or self absorbing.

Because my conscience (superego, whatever) makes me feel very bad if I do something wrong.

Then I have to eat a bag of Doritos to make myself feel better for about 30 seconds, then I feel guilty for overeating.

Then, the Combos start looking pretty good.

I have to do the right thing occasionally or I'd be too wide to fit through the door and they'd have to saw my house apart to take me to the hospital.

You do mean not doing the selfish thing, right?

You don't mean a selfish reason for not doing something, right? The selfish thing is what I'm avoiding, correct?

Your wording is a little ambiguous.

A selfish reason for not doing something is vanity--I don't want to get entirely too fat because of bingeing on comfort food.

But then, that could also be construed as taking care of my health, I suppose.

Sometimes it's just not your place....the honor belongs to someone else.
Sometimes the best thing you can do is just let it happen and let someone experience the consequences instead of rescuing them. (Especially with children to teach them)
Sometimes it wouldn't make a difference either way.
Sometimes health issues restrain you.
Sometimes law restrains you.
Of course, if it's against your faith, you wouldn't do it either

It's not one of the choices I want to make in my life. I've made up my mind what I will not do(ie: not swearing, dating until 16)
