It talks in the Bible about being saved and practicing the word of God. Why is it when I go to church they don't talk about being saved? Isn't church suppose to follow the Bible?

I really didn't, but our QB acts like the Lions are on a mission from God. Why would God want the Lions to win? What about the other teams? Have you ever prayed for something and the opposite happened? Just wondering. Please, no offense, I have always wondered about this part of prayer.

Most MENSA members as well as most science Nobel prize winners are and have been, in fact, Atheists.

Most poor and dispossessed people, most pregnant and drug-addicted teens, most terrorists, and most millionaires are religious people, specifically Christian in our part of the world.

What do you think this means?

I wonder why so many people are so confused about the difference between Natural Selection and Evolution?

NS is an observed fact as everyone agrees. Examples are Darwin's finches, lions/tigers (which despite being different species, can interbreed and are the same 'kind').

E (goo-to-you) is the hypothesis that animals can change into different kinds of animals by means of natural selection working on genetic mutations.
These alleged mutations need to have added vast amounts of genetic information. However no such genetic mutation has ever been observed. Mutations are information neutral or lossy.
'But E is too slow to see' protest the Eists. Well then it's not observable and not worthy of being even called a theory. In any case, time is the enemy - mutations are resulting in the degradation of the gene pool - that is observable.

Many evolutionists (deliberately?) mislead people by calling NS evolution and then claiming E is proved.

You don't find Creationists being so sloppy :)

Every day, in every nation around the world, at every Catholic Mass, we stand and profess aloud our faith in these words:

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
one in being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he was born of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered, died and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in fulfillment of the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

I'm just a simple, fun-loving, laid-back non-denominational Pagan. I never hurt anyone, and I love every human being on this planet (well, not my roommate, she's too loud). Yet whenever someone finds out what faith I belong to, they treat me in a terrible way. Will religious intolerance EVER stop?

When Our Prophet(pbuh) was 25 and Hazrat Khatija(ratu) was 40, they were married. What was their religion at that time? Quran was revealed 15 years later when He(pbuh) was chosen by Allah as his last prophet. Who solemnized their marriage? What particular faith and what particular religious rituals were performed?

surely there is at least one documented case of an amputee spontaneously re-growing a limb after fervent prayer.

Properly documented, this would be enough to convince most of us Doubting Thomases. Can someone provide the documentation please?

I am waiting to believe!!!

evolution states that matter reshapes and changes for survival
i believe something sees or feels ( however you want to describe it) the problem and thinks, it resolves a design that will work and then something installs the seeds for the change
so there is an intelligence and force some call this god but there is an intelligence behind every design so then who created god it makes no sense
why are we here what exactly are we, how can you be sure that we are only that of which we see and have learned about through teachings

An Abomination, demon children of Satan? I have not been able to find the passage and I was wondering why it is that your church don't allow little people to attend? Yes this is a protest. Why should little people be denied the salvation of the Lord. Ask your church elders why you don't have little people attending your church.

ok, so i had a vision last night from what i believed to be god... not the god of the bible, quran, or any of the hundreds of silly other religions that constantly bicker about who's right, but the real god. and it told me that those that are constantly fighting about who's worshiping the real god are all doomed to a fate 10,000 times worse than anything described as hell in the bible. however, those that worship it as being the head honcho are guarenteed pleasure millions of times greater than how the bible or the quran could ever describe heaven. now that you have read this you have to make a choice to believe. i could just be making this up, just as those who wrote the bible and the quran and the torah, could have been making up their holy books, or i could actually be speaking god's true word. how would you know? what will you say to my god, the real god, when it is looking down on all of you who denied it? try to pascal wager your way out of that one...

please be honest and say why youre here on R&S or on y/a to begin with. I wanna know how many people actually have questions regarding religion and how many just wanna poke some fun at others.

A creationist pointed out to me that carbon dating can not be used to prove the earth is millions of years old.

I thought he was wrong but after a little research I realize he was right. Carbon dating can only predict ages up to 60,000 years. Looks like a few of us on here have been repeating rhetoric without scientific evidence. (like some people we all know)

Radiometric dating is used to prove the earths age at 4+billion years old.

Radiometric dating is gonna be a little harder to remember than Carbon dating but I think it will be worth the effort to remain scientifically correct.

Do you agree?

I have recently been re-acquainted with an old school friend who is a Jehovahs Witness. I know she doesn't celebrate Christmas, but is it acceptable for me to send her a "Happy Holidays" or "Seasons Greetings" card instead. I don't want to offend her with my ignorance. Help.

I'm not talking about taking God's name in vain, with things like "God d-mn" or Jesus's name, but what about "cussing"? Is saying the "f" word a lot a sinful act? Why?/Not? Is saying "hell" and "damn" a lot sinful acts? Why?/Why not? All those words that are "naughty" but do not take God's name in vain -- how are they sinful if they are indeed sinful?

By Fake I mean christians who only pray to God and go to Church because they think "Well If its not real then nothing will happen, but If it is real then better be on the safe side,"

I.e. only being a christian to avoid punishment.

and a follow up question, do you think the idea of hell was meant to do this to people?

Are denominations from God? How can they be when they split up all the Christians? I mean, there are 1500 denominations alone in California. Isn't it time for the Body of Christ to come together, and leave our superstitions, rituals and non-biblical doctrines behind? What if we all agreed on the true Word of God, and not what man says?

Why do denominations make "rules" for membership in their churches. Isn't salvation a free gift?

On the other hand, can't someone come into a denomination, and follow all the rules, yet not be a true Christian?

I think the only way for us to come together as Christian, is to break down the walls and denominations. If you are in a denomination, then you are part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Her worship continued unabated clear up until its
violent suppression by Iron Age patrism. When and where worship of the Mother prevailed women and Nature were held in esteem. The Chinese called Her Kwan Yin; the Egyptians knew Her as Isis; the Navajo call Her Changing Woman. To the Greeks She was Gaia, and to many black peoples She is Yemanja. She is Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love, and She says: "All acts of love and pleasure are my rituals." She is also the ancient Crone Hecate, who gives us both wisdom and death.
She is diversity. There can be no such thing as all "Good" or all "Evil." Death is part of the natural cycle as night follows day and we accept it with grace as Her final gift. The search for Balance is the goal of Her people. It is achieved by the acceptance of multiple paths and truths. The eldest and greatest aspect of is as Great Mother Nature, the all-encompassing energy of Universal Life.
