I'm just a simple, fun-loving, laid-back non-denominational Pagan. I never hurt anyone, and I love every human being on this planet (well, not my roommate, she's too loud). Yet whenever someone finds out what faith I belong to, they treat me in a terrible way. Will religious intolerance EVER stop?

I'm not a witch.
I don't go around telling people, it's just that a lot of people I speak to end up bringing religion into the conversation. Am I to hide and say that I agree with their faith? Plus I sometimes wear a small pentagram, no different than the cross necklaces people wear. I get questions. Am I to hide? I won't be ashamed.

I am with you sister! Im wiccan so I know where you are coming from.

I hope some day it will stop, but I believe it will only stop when those who fear us are enlightened to our religious beliefs. That is one of the reasons I am in here telling them about my beliefs. I can only hope that with understanding comes tolerance.

Blessings

I don't think your evil honey.

BUT I do know that there are a lot of ignorant people out there, and so long as there is ignorance, there will be no religious tolerance or tolerance for the lack thereof.

There is too much hatred among everyone. And that's the truth!

bmdt07- Being unkind is NOT being caring!

I wouldn't call it intollerance I would call it caring. caring where you end up. Its all great that you love all people and that you never hurt anyone. but there is a reality that there are two places one will end up heaven or hell and if we care enough we should tell you .....In a loving way of course and not judge you for what you believe in. We should tell you and then its your choice to accept it or not. If you don't believe thats fine but to judge you for it isn't the way either.

I do agree that there are some that take it to the extreme and actually turn people away from God, which is sad but thats not Gods way its the people who do it.

If you loved someone enough and you knew they were in danger would't you say something?

Yes it will. Paganism is the fastest growing religion in the US. Atheism as well but that's not a faith LOL
People are becoming more educated about Paganism and it's much more respected then it used to be. Hang in there.

Catholic Crusaider that is super funny. I haven't gotten laid in like a month and I'm MARRIED. Get real.

Peace. I believe all have some measure of truth, myself included. There are those who recognize additional truth whereever it is found. All should have the right to believe as their own conscience dictates (note this implies one's belief should not impinge on another's rights too.)

No. Unfortunately, the literature for the major faiths requires that it be spread for conversion or death of the non believers. Most people have to ask themself the question, why am I here? Its all about the sells technique of the seller and the upbringing of the buyer, as to how they answer that question.

Nope. Sorry. But I've actually found that most people are starting to become more open towards Paganism.

I am sorry that people treat you this way and this happens to people of any religious conviction.

Unfortunately such intolerance will never stop.

Funny, I'm a Wiccan and I only rarely get intolerance. "whenever someone finds out," you say? How are you telling them?

I mean, it sucks whenever it happens, but if it's EVERYTIME, I'm wondering how you go about telling people.

Edit: It's not a case of hiding. If EVERYONE ALWAYS reacts that way, either you're hanging out with creeps exclusively or you're drawing some negativity to yourself.
