Tell me some realities of life. What have you found to be truth? Is there really a truth?

What would it take? There is nothing that would "prove" His existence to you right? If He came down and introduced Himself in person you'd laugh in His face, there's nothing else He could create for you to see that you would attribute to Him,so what then WOULD you consider concrete "evidence?Miracles you have already dismissed, you explain the entirety of creation as some cosmic coincidence. So what then would it take,is there anything that you can even conceive of that would convince you?Or just, no,that's it, end of story? I'm curious.

I'm mostly interested in spiritual and religious issues but I'll probably dabble in other things too. I'm an agnostic.

Hi all!

I am a peaceful contributor to this section and honor what everyone chooses to believe. Why can't some of you, particularly those who have been condemning others to hell with a little too much certainty, just open yourselves to the world. It's a big place. Does anyone else think this weekend has been a rough one with all this anger and hatred? I welcome all thoughts. I really just don't understand and I'm generally used to what happens here. Many blessings and Namaste

Do you think your God is powerful and/or forgiving enough for them? (Or is He not powerful enough?)

Most religions claim to be religions of a book dictated by God. For Judaism, it is the Torah. For Muslims, it is the Quran.

Christians seem to be divided on this point. Catholics point to John I, where we learn that the Word was made flesh and lived among us. In John 21, we learn that most of Christ's actions and teachings are not in the Bible; "If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written." Catholics rely on the original Christians' memories of Christ's teachings preserved in other early Christian writings.

Protestants, on the other hand, restrict our knowledge sources to the books selected in the biblical canon. They follow Jews and Muslims in creating a religion of a book, rather than a religion of the Word.

Who is right?

Religion has played an influence on the laws that define right & wrong and what is moral in almost every nation on Earth. Christianity for example heavily influenced laws in the US and Europe.

If there is no God, no life after death and therefore no fear of being held responsible for what we do here on earth, what purpose does morality have?

If this is all there is to existence, ultimately it would seem right & wrong are irrelevant and all that truly matters is how one chooses to make the best of this life, even if that means indulging in the most evil and wicked of behavior/actions.

The candle that burns the brightest, also burns the shortest.

It seems in the Atheist universe, being the candle that burns brightest and the one that is long remembered, should be the goal of every human, even if the path is one of evil and destruction.

I use to be a non-believer, and I was baptized a few months ago. So right now I am trying practice a christian lifestyle. Lately, I have been going through tough times, I cant seem to turn my life around at this point. I pray about it, but I am beginning to feel hopeless. I work so I am not able to attend church regularly, I use to tithe, but now Im completely in debt. I am puzzled as to how some individuals are granted blessings, and clearly do not make the effort to acknowledge God. I just want to get my life together, but I just do not see it happening. Is there a difference between believing and actually trusting GOD?

Is something moral because God does it, or does God do something because it is intrinsically moral? The reason I ask this is because if it's moral because God does it, then anything, including murder and stealing, could be considered moral simply because God does it. However, if God does something because it is intrinsically good, then goodness does not depend on God. I am constantly told that since I am an atheist, I have no motivation to be moral. I can’t see how God could possibly motivate someone to be moral, unless that person is being moral because they are afraid of God. The problem with that is if you’re being moral only because you fear God, then your not actually being moral, your just avoiding punishment.

What faith are Boy Scouts? (I heard Mormon) Is not the same for Girl Scouts. Do you think they should go talking to children about Sex or God. Do the scout leaders have sex and religious training to address these issues? Also How are they allowed publicly funded property and Money for these bigoted acts.

My boss is a piece of work. I am not talking simple things like overloading me with work. This woman is truly evil. I am not her only target but I am her 1ry one. When she is unhappy for some reason(which is often) she tries to start arguments, accuses me of not doing my job after she interferes with my ability to complete tasks and documents things that are untrue while attempting to deny me the opportunity to respond also in writing. She sets me up to fail by preventing me from attending meetings I should and where I am expected and blocked me from transfering. Co-workers and I have tried talking to her boss and he will not do ANYTHING. I already know this job is not salvageable and am looking to get out as soon as possible but I need to keep the job until I find a new one. Is there a spell to get her to f--k off and let me do my job without getting me fired until I leave on my own?

why do religious freaks keep saying that the theory of evolution implies this?

.

2007-09-30 04:25:23 · 21 answers · asked by Anonymous

When the Bible says in Genesis that modern animals were made "after their kind" could it mean that they were made similar in their DNA structure to the prehistoric animals.

Could modern man have been made "after their kind" also, that is similar in DNA structure to prehistoric man? Modern man however differed from prehistoric man because he was also made in the image of God, that is having a spiritual nature that can communicate with God.

This does not deny that evolution ever occurred, but it does say that God used genetics to interfere at some point, most likely around the Pleistocene-Holocene boundary (about 12,000 years ago).

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW IS IT THAT THIS RELIGION IS CONSIDERED CORRECT???
