Christians, do you feel that Mormons, Catholics, Muslims, etc do not experience the same level certainty about their religion as you do?

If you believe they are incorrect, then why do you believe you are correct and they are mislead.

(Yes, I know. Catholics and Mormons consider themselves Christian and I consider them Christian also, but a lot of people here don't, and that is who I am addressing)

We are in the midst of the High Holy Days. All this focus on services, teshuvah, do this, do that. Doing all these things because it is what G-d wants. When do the feelings come?

i had asked a question for atheists just like every body else asks on this site. just because the question was in UPPER CASE it got a lot of overreaction from the concerned people. why? if they are convinced of their beliefs then why panic when come across something like this? they should answer it anyways, right? moreover some geek who did'nt have the guts to accept the challenge, got it deleted by reporting abuse. abuse of what, i ask? your baseless beliefs? what when you shoot off your mouth about theists and comment whatever you like? wow! i thought it was only the religious goons good at such cheap tactics, but now i am glad they have company to share the title.

Neanderthals?????? I mean, if we humans did no evolve, then why do we find other species of humans in the fossil record. It's not just Neanderthals either. We have found like 8 different species of humans in the fossil record, none of which are mentioned in the Bible. Did the devil put those fossils there to confuse me???

After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, "Do not fear, Abram, I am a shield to you; Your reward shall be very great."

---

To me, this is an importan verse. I think that this verse is important because God is telling Abram that he will be there for him and reward him if Abram believes and follows God. To me, this is important. I know that if I follow God, He will be there for me and reward me in the end, by sending me to Heaven.

---

So what does this verse mean to you? How does it make you feel?

Ok I got into a heated argument with my girlfriend. We were studying the bible and someone sacraficing unblemished lambs came up. She told me Jesus was an unblemished lamb and covers all the sins for all christians, but since the jews don't believe in him they have no way to cover their sins.

So essentially she told me billions of christians will go to heaven while only 144,000 Jews will make it into heaven. I told her that sounded very unfair and cruel and she told me it wasn't her decision it was God's and she was just telling me what was written in the bible. She said something about it being 144,000 because 12,000 jews from 12 tribes will be admitted.

Is this really true? Is this what many christians truly believe?

I have been an atheist/agnostic after opening my eyes and realising that I believe religion is just fantasy that I have been brought up to believe as fact.
I live away from home, but go home on weekends, usually on sunday afternoon to avoid confrontation with my parents over not going.

This week I came home on a saturday because I was working nearby. Sunday morning, my dad woke me up and told me to get ready for church. I said I wasn't going, and this lead to an hour long talk about why I dont believe anymore. Our conversation ended and we had missed most of the mass by that time but my dad asked me to go along just to say hello to my church friends which I agreed to. I went, said hello, then they reeled me into a bible study.

I sat through it, bored, then at the end everyone stood up to pray and I stood up out of respect. The leader asked me to pray for them. I was really pissed off, didnt want to make a scene, so said a few words. I feel really s**tty now that I wasnt being myself

(Sorry, LOL, I'm new here, I just figured no one could read my entry if I was editing and most of you did not read the rest of this.)

... After I was finished praying the radio was quiet and when I went to change the station it started playing a song on an oldies station (and it wasn't next to the country station) which just happened to be the name of the one of the authors I was reading. This song was an unusual name, it is like hearing the song "Hey there Delilah" (that was not the title though)

I know how I feel about this incident, but what would YOU feel had the same thing happened to you? Would you believe it was a sign that that particular book was more correct or would you just say that is was all a very cool coincidence?

Hi Folks,
I have just returned from a Thanksgiving Service at St. Albans Cathederal. No, I am not a devout Christian, and hardly ever attend, but that was a special do.
I was ticked off by a member of Clergy for saying "So Be It", instead of "Amen".
Well, I explained, that is what Amen means.
Had him flummoxed and looking for a reference book.

Oh dear, have I sent the church into turmoil ?

you hear about these people whose heartbeats had stopped then were revived ten minutes later (or whatever) does that mean the soul was always with them? or it left and came back? just trying to get my head around this (presuming souls exist, and they do depart when dead). thanks for your help :)

are not delusional? This is not meant as an insult, I just honestly see that belief that many of you hold is delusional. Could you please point me out where I am wrong? Thanks.

Here are some of the reasons I find it delusional.

* certainty (held with absolute conviction))
* incorrigibility (not changeable by compelling counterargument or proof to the contrary)
* impossibility or falsity of content (implausible, bizarre or patently untrue)

The WORD OF GOD.... Says.....

(Matthew 6:33) But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.

There is a Book... by Rick Warren called .... The Purpose Driven LIFE !"

HE Avoids.... Biblical Obedience... and ... Biblical Authority... all in the Name of PURPOSE....?

Never ONCE... does he say what JESUS... Said...

(Luke 6:46) And why do you call Me [ JESUS ] Lord, Lord, and do not do what I say?

AND....

(John 15:7-to-10) If you abide in Me, and My Words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done to you.

(Joh 15:8) In this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit, so you shall be My disciples.

(Joh 15:9) As the Father has loved Me, so I have loved you; continue in My love.

(Joh 15:10) If you keep My commandments, you shall abide in My love, even as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love.

Which ONE... SOULD ... I... Believe... Jesus or RW?

Thanks, RR

Islam teaches that all will go to Heaven
1. Who believe and worship one and only God (creator of all
heavens and earth and sustainer of every living being)

2. Who are faithful to God and to each other, do good deeds,
repent to God if sinned for forgiveness, do not commit
crimes against humanity, do not involve in pre-marital sex
and adultry.

Even if they have different name of their God and their religion.
Do you agree?
