Yes, you are correct. God does promise protection and great rewards, to those who perservere, and especially in these times, where satan is going wild trying to destroy all that God has created. Through our faith in God and Jesus,..we that try to endure to the end, will reap great rewards, for are suffering now. Thanks for the uplifting question.

God is a shield and a rewarder to us here and now in the present as well. The word of God shields us from negative thoughts and suggestions. It shields us from doubt and fear. We can march forward courageously with our shields held high. God rewards us today with peace and joy. He rewards us with hope in the future and a renewed mind and heart, with greater capacity to love and be loved.

I think the Bible Teacher there needs to chill a little. Okay, he
was talking to Abram but excuse us if we like to think God
is our shield too.
Whew.

"After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.
Yes, I think this does speak of divine protection, but it also indicates a great reward - which is known as the Abrahamic Covenant
Abraham made covenants with God when he received the gospel, when he was ordained a high priest, and when he entered into eternal marriage covenant. In these covenants, God promised great blessings to Abraham and his family. These blessings, which extend to all of Abraham's seed, are called the Abrahamic covenant.
Among the promises made to Abraham were the following:
* His posterity would be numerous. (see Genesis 17:5–6)
* His seed, or descendants, would receive the gospel and bear the priesthood. (Abraham 2:9 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee above measure, and make thy name great among all nations, and thou shalt be a blessing unto thy seed after thee, that in their hands they shall bear this ministry and Priesthood unto all nations)
* Through the ministry of his seed, "all the families of the earth [would] be blessed, even with the blessings of the Gospel, which are the blessings of salvation, even of life eternal." (Abraham 2:11 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse them that curse thee; and in thee (that is, in thy Priesthood) and in thy seed (that is, thy Priesthood), for I give unto thee a promise that this right shall continue in thee, and in thy seed after thee (that is to say, the literal seed, or the seed of the body) shall all the families of the earth be blessed, even with the blessings of the Gospel, which are the blessings of salvation, even of life eternal.)
A person can receive all the blessings of the Abrahamic covenant—even if he or she is not a literal descendant of Abraham—by obeying the laws and ordinances of the gospel (see Galatians 3:26–29; 4:1–7).

I love that verse because God was saying He will always be there. He will never abandon you or leave you. He will shield you and love you. Isn't it great?

This verse and promise were given to Abraham and him alone. Why are you assuming that because God spoke it to Abraham that it is a promise to YOU? That is NOT the way God intends for you to study your Bible and how I "feel" about it isnt the issue.
If you want to know what God is saying specifically TO and ABOUT YOU as a member of the Body of Christ, then go to the letters that tell us that information. Romans thru Philemon is where God is speaking ABOUT YOU. The rest of the Bible is certainly for our learning, as to how God dealt with a NATION , and specifically ISRAEL, but the instructions found there are NOT to you.
An example would be this:
If you went to the Post Office and the Postmaster General came out and threw ALL the mail up in the air and said "come and Get it!", would you think he was doing His job?????
Of course not! You are there to get YOUR mail, not to sift thru it ALL to find what is addressed to YOU.
God is more organized than that! He tells us to whom He addressed certain portions of scripture. Romans thru Philemon is TO us in this age of GRACE. All the rest of your Bible is addressed to a NATION and is their instruction for times PAST and ages to come (Eph. 2: 11, 13, and v 7)
God wasnt speaking to you when He made that promise to Abraham. Thats NOT how we study our bibles.
Contrary to popular opinion , All the promises in the Book are NOT ours!

we are all Gods children no count number who we are and we are all created equivalent. i do no longer believe there's a Bible verse to describe this. I do believe that interior the old testomony that God grew to change into indignant with a number of His human beings for blending with others in marriage. yet this replaced into to save the bloodline organic via the Jewish race. it is vaugley pronounced and that i'm sorry i visit't remember the Scripture. i imagine it replaced into after Abraham, even as God replaced into attempting to steer His human beings in a conflict that replaced into coming about. The white supremacy got here to Memphis, Tennessee for instance on on the day that Martin Luther King had died. properly, the city of Memphis gave them a enable for instance, in spite of the actual incontrovertible truth that there replaced into to be a non violent march to honor Dr. King, so back a enable replaced into issued. in spite of the actual incontrovertible truth that, there have been barricades between the persons and the audio gadget, it grew to change into gruesome with hatred and saluting to hilter, replaced into discussing. i'm white and that i'm maximum frightened of the white supremacy than any worry-free gang. those human beings have a lot hate for others and devil loves it, they could imagine no longer something of fantastic you as an adult or newborn in case you're the incorrect colour in accordance to their criteria or perhaps as they laughed about it. the point of intelligences is decrease than a kindergarten. If God really loved you, it would be unconditional love. That is the highest, most absolute form of love. If God can't love unconditionally, but your parents can, then your parents are greater than God.
