No, Buddhists are too smart to follow someone around like Jesus. They just lead themselves in circles. It's almost the same thing but different. I think Republicanism is the next step in Christianity, we already follow around George W like he's Christ without the sandals!!! "Oh where, oh where has my Lil' Buddha gone? Oh where, oh where can he be?!!!" Smoked Herbivorism is the only step to true harmony!!

It doesn't make sense to ask if one religion is the next step for a completely different religion. I realize that some people believe that buddhism is compatable with almost any other religion including christianity, and there are many people who consider themselves christian buddhists, which is a fairly new phenomenon. However, christianity and buddhism are not logically compatible belief systems in my opinion. Most of the basic doctrines of these two religions are in basic disagreement with each other. For example christianity is strongly theistic, while buddhism is essentially non-theistic. This is an extremely fundamental difference between western religions, and most eastern religions. Buddhists do not worship Buddha, or consider him to be God. Also Buddhists believe in reincarnation, which is at odds with the Christian belief in one eternal afterlife. On the other hand, it is possible that more and more christians will adopt aspects of eastern religions including Buddhism and vice versa. The blending of religions is different than one religion being completely eradicated by another, which is what you are describing. If Christian missionaries somehow managed to convert every single living buddhist into a christian, historians would not look back and say that christianity was "next step" in Buddhism, they would simply consider Buddhism to be an extinct religion.

CB4UP,you have misunderstood Buddhism completely,so does all who have answered your question,Buddhism is an education, like going to school, people of all religion attend school,to learn about how to live, how to work and how to interact. In order for you to be a better Christan, you have to learn Buddhism, that goes with all other religions of the world,so ther is not 'next step'when Buddhism is concerned, for Buddhism is about relationship between the human and the envoirment, that include the nature, family, siblings, friends, society and even the unseen beings. In other word, universal,so,who is not a Buddhist?

No, Buddhism is not interested in Jesus Christ at all. I don't think God is of much relevance in Buddhism either. Buddhism teaches one to be self-less, while Christianity teaches one to find their true self in God thru Jesus Christ.

NEVER

Why would you even think this? It makes no sense.

Maybe Christianity is the next step if someone chooses to change their beliefs, but I wonder how where you even came up with this one.

Christianity will split in 2 directions.

Some will turn toward unification:

The rest will be persecuted as they seek unity in scripture:

I think not. Buddhism has NO answer for the problem of sin, but only for the problem of unhappiness.
