I'm leery of all belief systems. I don't want to be told what to believe, I just want the facts presented - real facts that can be backed up, not just myths legends and lies - and I'll figure it out on my own.

One can't say something or someone is evil or good. Evil and good are only evil or good in the point of view of a person. Maybe something that's evil to your openion is good to another person's point of view and visa versa. Therefore, there is no such a thing as evil or good... we make them. Perhaps what you think as evil today, if you get to know it better and find out more about the reason behind the so called "evil" actions, you will think of it as a good thing.... maybe you even join that thing that you thought it was "evil" before...

People who have that sort of belief do frighten me. Nonetheless, human beings have done truly horrible things to other human beings all through history and still continue to do so. It is important to think about why they are capable of that. It is not so simple as many of the "explanations" one hears, and people should not be content with knee-jerk kind of answers about something so important, if humanity is to progress.

Well, yes, if we are "evil" because of "morals" or "sin". But i can get behind the reasoning and some of the arguments put forth by this group- check this out-
http://www.vhemt.org/ (voluntary human extinction)
At least these folks arent putting any sugar coating on it and giving people false hopes and guilt.

Valtor said it *very* well....
but to some extent;
for instance, I can believe that SOME things are predetermined; to some extent.
but to be inherently "evil" before your first breath?
it just seems more than a little ridiculous.
Blessed be.

The god that created the earth is evil. All of his creations are therefore tainted. The true god is not the creator. This is (sort of) Catharism.

I find it a highly suspect starting place; it seems extremely slanted towards control rather than good, responsible individuality.

I pity the followers for they allow idiotic dogma to rule their lives.

No. I believe that people that choose those beliefs are already demented. I only fear it makes them worse.

Well, I know myself, my good points and my bad points. Undeniable there is both good and evil in a person. What I am more apprehensive about are religions or ideologies that declare "you are God."
