It is by grace that you are saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, but it is a gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.

Doesn't that pretty much seal up the debate of who salvation is for?

When you believe in God's Salvation having come to ALL mankind, you are saved.

Then take a look at I Timothy 4:9-10

This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance (and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe.

If you believe it is by your faith, or your works, reread Ephesians 2:8-9.

Confess it and believe it, then tell others the truth.

For those still stuck on believing in eternal punishment, check out the meaning of the translation in the greek. It is until the end of a time.

He will never leave you, nor forsake you.

Even hypocrites and those in outright rebellion have THE hope of being reconciled to God.

Death where is thy sting?

Are the funds generated by weekly bingo games at the Catholic Church on the rez returned to the tribal government?

Are those funds dedicated for use by the tribe, or do they go to further Church evangelism?

Question is for Native Americans who've lived on the rez only.

Serious answers only.

The book " A Wrinkle in Time" was my first glimpse of the world outside of organized religion. And in it's fantasy realm, Mrs. Whatchit, Mrs Who. and the other characters were as real to me as anything I have ever known. Since I read that book, every time I look at the stars, I wonder which ones are my departed friends and family. Are you going to miss Madeleine L'Engle as much as I?

I am an atheist but I need not engage in stupidly insulting the name of Jesus. May peace be with him since so many crimes have been committed in his name.

If you are truly born of God, isn't there a part of you that doesn't want to go down (buried) with the body?

Isn't there a new spiritual awareness of the Kingdom of Heaven that you are aware of? So? Don't you sense Gods love from your born again spiritman?

And there is such a thing as out of body experiences. Like Paul when He went to the 3rd heaven. Or John when he received Revelation. Or praying in the Spirit with God yourself.

When my body dies, I still have a soul/spirit. I don't want to go down there with my old body decomposing.

It is written that to be absent from this body is to be present with the Lord. To be In Christ is to be present with the Lord.

Like the dead in Christ. The body is dead. The soul/spirit in Christ & with Christ.

Mt. 10:14 And whosoever shall not receive you,
nor hear your words,
when ye depart out of that house or city,
shake off the DUST of your feet.

Why did they kill, burn and destroy all the books and people that would not listen to the pope and his pagan roman emperor.

Why did the infallible pope wipe the blood of the innocent from his shoes instead????

Atheists basically believe that there is no God but they do believe in the big bang theory which is that there was some super condensed matter the size of a golf ball and then in an instant, everything everywhere exploded from it.

And we are supposed to believe that a bunch of HIGHLY uneducated people all that time ago, came up with basically the same exact theory but used God to explain the Big Bang?

What are the odds of someone (it had to start with one person) making up something like that and then some 6000+ years later science comes up with basically the same thing but tries to explain it as a random thing?

Is that what I supposed am to believe if I want to be an Atheist?

Really?

some people see it and think it is a star of David, others think it is a sign of the devil. The question is, do you know what it symbolises?

2007-09-13 08:15:01 · 19 answers · asked by Diane 4

Over and over I see that many evangelical and fundementalist christians have such a biased an untrue understanding of the bible.

Jesus gave two commands directly. Be baptised to be saved and eat his body and drink his blood to have life in you.

Why do they say it is only symbolic. Its a bit like anything that they disagree with of want to sideline they say it is "symbolic"

Whatever they want to belive in they say it is compusory.

She's talking about Vietnam, but don't you think it also applies to Iraq? And to make this religious, do you think god really told Bush to invade Iraq?

"I think if our country is attacked, I don't think there is a boy in the country that wouldn't fight for the defense of it. None of my boys. All of my boys surely would. But I don't believe in sending them to these places for tin, rubber and oil, or whatever it maybe, and I think if there is any criminals in this case, it's the middle-class America who sits by and allows this to happen, allows our boys — we not only give our boys, we give the money. Because it's our money, our taxes.

We ought to be ashamed of ourselves. I know that I am. I am ashamed of the day I took my son to that airplane and put him on. I'm ashamed of any pride that I had when the Taps were played, and I did have pride. And I'm proud of my son because he didn't know. We should have known, but we didn't know.

Faith as an epistemological method of attaining knowledge...What's on the other end of the spectrum?

2007-09-13 08:12:25 · 30 answers · asked by Eleventy 6

Aren't people aware that its really more of a metaphorical book? Otherwise how do you explain all the discrepencies in it and contradictions? Why don't more Christians study Hebrew? Finally, why don;t Christians uphold the covenant of Abraham instead of falsely believing that Jesus's new covenant erased it as opposed to merely adding to it? If youi claim descent of the Old Testament, why not celebrate passover?
Why do you blame the Jews instead of the Romans?

I am of no set, specific "religion" and think of myself as being on a "spiritual" quest.....

I was brought up as a Christian but it wasn't forced on me or rammed down my throat! As an adult I have leaned far more towards Buddhism.

I have respect for all peoples religions and beliefs, as long as they are not fundamentalists or fanatical about it.

I don't understand why if you are "one" religion you then see no value in any of the "teachings" from ANY other religion?

And why do so many Christians want to preach and force THEIR beliefs about God on everyone else... Acting smug, like they are going to be allowed into "heaven" because they are believers, and its hell for the rest of us?
Why can't people live and let live?
Why can't people have tolerance?
Why can't people seem to co-exist and learn things from each other?
Any ideas on how to bridge this sort of gap? And unite people REGARDLESS of religion, ethnicity, faith, belief, status, age / disability etc?

I see a lot of answers that were not correct.

Martin Luther wanted to stop the sale of indulgences. Thats all, it was a corupt procedure and was being done to pay for the renovation of St Pauls in Rome.

That is the ONLY reason he did it.

Did you know that Martin Luther believed in the true presence of Christ in Communion.

Did you know that he was a vile man who wanted to exterminate the Jewish race.

And he took a load of books out of the established bible because it didnt fit his ideology.

Most protestants ignore this because like many cults they have been brainwashed by their church to never look for truth and just accept what they are told.

I don't know how to translate the meaning of dreams that well. I didn't have the dream, but my mom did. She and I are half-way across the world from each other (I don't know if that's significant, I'm just putting it out there). And she had a dream that 3 snakes came out from concealment, and were rapidly coming after me. One particular snake was very aggressive and was coming at me with it's mouth open, and she knew that this particular snake was deadly. And she woke up before they got to me. And here is also something that I don't know if it's significant. She fell back asleep, and had that same dream again......any thoughts?

In the question a minute ago, someone asked what we think happens when we die.

Why would ANYONE give anyone thumbs down for their answers? Aren't we allowed to even believe differently?

It's not like people tried to force anything on anyone- they were just answering the question.

Some people are so intolerant.

Ecclesiastics 12 says:
"12:4 And the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of musick shall be brought low;"

Hear the voice of Victor the Budgie may have been talking about here. Victor even predicted the fall of the twin towers with surprising accuracy before he died in March of 2001.
African Grey Parrot have shown that some are able to associate words with their meanings and form simple sentences. Along with parrots, the crows, ravens, and jays (family Corvidae) are perhaps the most intelligent of birds
