The book " A Wrinkle in Time" was my first glimpse of the world outside of organized religion. And in it's fantasy realm, Mrs. Whatchit, Mrs Who. and the other characters were as real to me as anything I have ever known. Since I read that book, every time I look at the stars, I wonder which ones are my departed friends and family. Are you going to miss Madeleine L'Engle as much as I?

Strangely much of the rest of her work is Christianity-focused.

But yes, I will miss her as I loved "A Wrinkle In Time" terribly.

I am only twelve, so I can't have a giant list yet. Here are some (though I might use some of Bekki's. I seem to have read a lot of the same books as her). Jacob Have I Loved by Katherine Paterson Night by Elie Weisel Yellow Star by Jennifer Roy The Ghost Canoe (don't know why) by Will Hobbs Dreamland by Sarah Dessen Misty of Chincoteague Any of Joan Lowry Nixon's mystery books. My favorite of hers is The Name of the Game was Murder. Monsters of Morely Manor Hans Brinker (I have literally read it 15 times!) I would list others, but they would probably seem to childish.

I will miss her a little but I never got to know her in person thats why I say little. As for her books my fave is the one where the twins go back in time around the Noah's Ark story. My second fave is when Charles Wallace is near high school age and has to travel to different places in time on a unicorn to save the world from Nuclear war.
My third A Wrinkle in Time, my forth An Accemptable Time.

Wow. This is the first I've heard of this. It's incredibly sad. "A Wrinkle in Time" is a great book, as are so many others that she wrote. My favorite is "A Swiftly Tilting Planet."

Interestingly enough, L'Engle's books had a lot Christian themes in them.

I just finished re-reading "A Wrinkle In Time."
I was reading it when she died.

I LOVED that book. I read it when I had the mumps and I had to stay home from school, and I totally lost myself with Charles Wallace and everyone. It introduced me to science fiction, which I have loved ever since. I hope she tesseracted to a nice place.

I read that book about 30 years ago and loved it. It was so different from anything else I had read. I have actually thought about it from time to time. I will miss her. Yes.

I didn't realize she'd passed through the Door. Well, now we have a new star to wonder about and thankfully she left us her words behind. I will mourn her loss and re-read Wrinkle tonight in her honour.

As long as I have all her books to read, I won't miss her at all.

A great writer and great person -- May God speed her to heavenly rest.
