Do you pray to Jesus or to God?

By instinct, what comes out of your mouth first? God or Jesus?

It would undoubtedly say...

Line 1

The world and the universe was created by billions of years of evolution

I mean the bible is so full of ancient antiquated thinking, written by people who thought the earth was flat, and who thought the stars were lights on a dome. They had no knowlege of anything, that is why in genesis, the animals mentioned are those which were around..goats, cattle, etc..and not dinosaurs , and obviously the societies were filled with unfaithful wives. GOD's word?? Hardly. just some words of advice written by the elders of the community. Some of it isn't too bad. A lot of the wisdom is still relevant today.

One reason i have been scared to totally give my life over to god has been the following.....I have been scared that if i totally surrender my life over that i would no longer enjoy some of the things that make me who i am... For example.. I want to go to school for hair. I also enjoy tattoo's i have 7 of them already.. i alo enjoy music. All types not just christian music. I also have been sfaird that i wouldnt be happy. The thought of totally giving urself over to someone is scary....I mean, its important that im happy. I want to enjoy my life. I like do things that any other person likes. I seems like most Christians spend their life talking about god every chance they, while theres nothing wrong with that....but at the same time..there are other things going on in this world. part of the reason i turned my head from Christianity when i was growing up my mother forced Christianity down my throat, so much that i detested it for years...everything was about god. and i was like mom!

It was difficult to know how to frame the question above. It's not the sort of thing you can squeeze into one sentence.

It's just that I've been around the block a few times now (39), and many people who can say the same will probably agree that you really do seem to get 'sorts'. You'll find yourself thinking oh so and so really reminds me of thingymajig.

Well there is a 'sort' that I think I have distilled. I seem to have met a few people who are tripping over themselves to tell me about all the spiritual 'facts' that they know and over eager to correct me on matters that really are too subtle to have such a black and white analysis.

This 'sort' I have found usually to be very mixed up people that turn out to be anything but spiritual. Many of them have turned out to be spiteful, quick to anger, intolerant and selfish.

Have any of you guys found this to be the case and if so what do you think to be the psychology? Is it some kind of compensation for their lack spirituality

and now you're a Christian, why would anyone think that's an advertisement for Christianity?

Who would rely on the testimony of such a person?

Wouldn't it raise at least a suspicion that Christianity appeals especially to self-indulgent and irresponsible people with below-average intelligence?

Who started this style of evangelism anyway?

Leviticus 20:13, "And if a man lie with mankind, as with womankind, both of them have committed abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."

It is no longer okay to kill gay people because Jesus changed everything, but God still detests it. We shouldn't encourage people to fall away into this sin. We should reach out and help them overcome their urges. If we act like it's no big deal, then we only encourage them.

Agree?

so, 'born-again' people think they are going straight to heaven after they die, but the ones they provoke to anger are going to hell.

how unfair is that?

I'm not out to disrespect anyone or anyone's faith, I just have a hard time grasping accepting the "free" will aspect of the following:
If you worship me and do what I say, you will go to paradise after you die and everything will be better than you could possibly imagine.
If you don't worship me, you will die and burn in hell for eternity.
Your choice.
How can this be considered free will? Could this dogma be more a construction of man attributed to God?

you provoke people to anger by telling them they'll go to hell if they don't do the same things you do, so what are you expecting?

by the way, you are not being persecuted, you are just reaping what you sow.

When the government is too intrusive,
people lose their spirit.

Act for the people's benefit.
Trust them; leave them alone."

If you blame someone else,

"If a country is governed wisely,
its inhabitants will be content.
They enjoy the labor of their hands
and don't waste time inventing
labor-saving machines.
Since they dearly love their homes,
they aren't interested in travel.
There may be a few wagons and boats,
but these don't go anywhere.
There may be an arsenal of weapons,
but nobody ever uses them.
People enjoy their food,
take pleasure in being with their families,
spend weekends working in their gardens,
delight in the doings of the neighborhood.
And even though the next country is so close

was creation of God, just like Adam. What about him was god-like, was he able to stop anyone from crucifying him( i don't believe he was crucified). From what i understand God is all-knowing , all-powerful. Please do not say that God did this for our sins, because God could just forgive us, rather than sacrifice himself.
