It would undoubtedly say...

Line 1

The world and the universe was created by billions of years of evolution

I mean the bible is so full of ancient antiquated thinking, written by people who thought the earth was flat, and who thought the stars were lights on a dome. They had no knowlege of anything, that is why in genesis, the animals mentioned are those which were around..goats, cattle, etc..and not dinosaurs , and obviously the societies were filled with unfaithful wives. GOD's word?? Hardly. just some words of advice written by the elders of the community. Some of it isn't too bad. A lot of the wisdom is still relevant today.

Who are you trying to convince. Us or yourself?

Obviously, you are not a scientist, and have faith in quite a few odd (and unproven) things. Nevertheless, consider this:

The bible does not speak of the following types of animals (specifically):

o'possum
sloth
wildebeest
rattle snake
bald eagle
kangaroo
dinosaur
zebra
giraffe
polar bear
penguin
tiger
wolverine
llama
etc. etc. etc.

And why would it? Do you have reason to believe that the purpose of the bible is to list every family of animal ever to exist on the planet? Let me assure you, no Christian makes any such claim for the bible! Did you know that there are biology and history and physics books that never mention dinosaurs? Should we assume that they are fallacious because dinosaurs are not mentioned?

It's true, most of the authors of Old Testament books probably thought the world was flat - but *the bible* never claims such a thing!

The stars are, of course, lights visible within the dome of "the sky". Not only did they believe that back then, but it is still true today. (If you don't believe me, look up the word "sky". It's not a religious thing - honest).

Yes, the societies were filled with unfaithful wives and husbands - just as ours is today. What's the point of that statement?

With the exception of the sun being created on the fourth "day" (for which there is a reasonable explanation, but only if you insist on taking the *English* word "day" to mean a 24-hour day resulting from the rotation of the earth about its axis), I challenge you to find any verse in the bible which contradicts proven science. I don't mean scientific theories in which you have placed your faith, but actual scientifically proven facts which contradict something in the bible. E-mail me if you ever find one.

It's a blend of old stories orally passed down finally being written into a book, and perhaps the musings of some more spiritual philosophers. Also, it was written in a different language and translations seem to be crappy.

If it were written today... I'm not sure. It'd probably profile people trying to aid others, like Mother Theresa and Gandhi. But there wouldn't be a church based around it (at least, not right off the bat)

Well said!

I was watching a "Nature of Things" documentary tonight about the Great Lakes, with David Suzuki and he was saying how people used to think the Earth was only 6000 years old until they started studying the rocks around the Great Lakes. They showed so many thousands of layers from core samples taken deep underground in a salt mine in Detroit and they said it proved that the Earth was much older and the Great Lakes used to be saltwater seas.

It was fascinating, and didn't come across as flipping a finger at religion at all, it was just stating facts they had discovered, not from speculation and theory but by counting layers in the Earth's crust! I don't think science is AGAINST religion, but I DO think religion is opposing science, just to be ornery.

I think the bible and quran need updates. We aren't lowly peasants sleeping on palm leaves in the dirt in clay huts anymore. And now that religion has moved to the west, I just don't see what Israel and the middle east and Hebrew or Arabic words have to do with us and the Americas. It's a foreign world we aren't a part of.

You and the rest of the world are wrong in your view of the Bible. This is what the Bible is. The first five books of the Bible are advanced science books written by God. The rest of the books of the Bible are history books God wrote about the generations after the original group of Israelites God and Moses led out of Egypt. These history books contain written eye witnesses accounts of what good things God did for these people when they followed His instructions called The Laws of Moses and the bad things God did or allowed to happen to these people when they either forgot or refused to follow God's instructions called The Laws of Moses. The first five books contain enough written non-human advanced scientific knowledge to fill the public library of any major city in the world. You just have to know how to decipher the scientific text off the pages of the Bible as you are reading it, which I have. Some of the advanced knowledge of science God has written down on the pages of the Bible deal with God's knowledge of evolution, eras of of evolution from prehistoric up to the modern eras. All the fields of science both known and yet unknown to human scientists including those that evolved from microbiology, advanced fields of medical science, zoology, marine biology, the knowledge of every insect on the planet, disease prevention in human beings, health and nutrition for the human body, plus much more then I have time to write down at this time. Modern science will soon bring all this knowledge of God's science written on the pages of the Bible to light to the mainstream public forcing the world to reinterpret and retranslate these books of the Bible from what we thought was creative ancient human religious writings back into the advanced scientific writings and meanings God originaly wrote them as. This will lead to proving that God whatever or whoever God is exists without God ever physicaly coming back to Earth and also forcing all of mankind including Christians to go back once again to following God's original instructions called "The Laws of Moses" in order for mankind to survive on Earth.

The Bible is not a scientific treatise. The Old Testament is a record of the relationship betwen God and certain people.
